Apex diet - What really works?

I've done some of the mods already listed like Gen II Skis, undertunnel exhaust (Excell), Timersled Drop Brackets, and Boss Seat. And I have plans for a few more already listed like Tmbersled Front and Rear Suspention, Battery Relocation, and maybe a hood/headlight replacement. But no one has mentioned installing 'Better Boards'. The more I ride my sled in deep powder (most of the time) the more I realize that this is a very important mod for me to do. The stock boards SUCK in deep snow, and all the snow that builds-up on them adds a lot of weight to my sled. 'Better Boards' are at the top of my list for mods for next season.

Max:D

the coolers melt all the snow for me and i don;t get much snow buildup, i will eventually go to better boards just for increased traction

wouldnt be hard for u to fab up your own exhaust. that would be cheap and easy. 10lbs savings if u put a old street bike muffler back there. seen a few personal mods. Building your own exhaust on a apex is the same as on a small car. just make sure u put somthing there for a bit of back pressure. also a MM seat i think is better.

Boss seat--------------------------------------------------$550
Mtn Tamer w drop brackets---------------------------------$1200
excell undertunnel exhaust----------------------------------$550
lose the headlights-----------------------------------------Free
$2300

This will be a significatn weight loss and will make the sled infinatley better.

i fabbed up my exhaust for my phazer mtn lite using a Carbon firbre muffler off a MIG exhaust system for an rx1, goes into a 2 inch pipe at the y then just did a simple cut and bend and made my own hanger. it cost me 20 bucks to build and the entire exhaust system up to the motor weighs less than just the muffler on my 600 dollar excell undertunnel exhaust. 4 stroke exhaust is super easy and cheap to build and is a total no brainer plus u got unlimited options. The backpressure u need is so minimal bends in the exhaust or the small restriction in muffler will be enough. exhaust flow is controlled by exhaust valve anyways either open or closed.

best way, buy a cat and retro fit an apex hood VOILA light weight Apex,
nono just kidding out be nice to have a nice light weight carbon fiber tunnel!

Or you could take that 2300 and put it towards your new M8! Or atleast thats what I did. I ride with a lot of different sleds, my 06 Apex always held me back. It got to the point that i was taking my wifes m7 to the mountains instead of my Apex... Great trail sled. But unless you get into the $20K range (CDN) Its hard to keep up. Now keep in mind im only 150 lbs... Apex was a good sled. But there are a lot better out there now. :beer;

I'm wondering how long the M8 will last before things start going belly up?
My mate's one has had troubles already with belts and electrics.
Im staying with my apex mtn for now until they bring out a lighter more powerful version.:beer;
