Buddy borrowed one of my sleds for a trip to his cabin, worked fine yesterday all day, went to start it this morning and nothin. Says when he turns the key to on and the power turns on and sled runs through its self check just fine, turn the key to start to fire it up and nothin but a click, he tried to jump the sled from a battery and jump kick which he picked up from the local dealer down the hill and still gets nothin but a click, looks like I'm headin down tomorrow to see what the deal is, if anybody has dealt with this issue on an Apex I'd appreciate any imput from your experience

check the connection at the starter and solenoid for tightness and possible corrosion, one guy on here(link)(sorry for the spelling)has been helping a lot of guys with the same problem, clean lube tighten, good luck hope it's warm for you.

another thing,is this the stock batt. or one of those super light weight's that we all try 4 a season, stock should last a while(3 yrs so far)super light =super craaap, yes been there

Stock Battery

This is the stock battery running on it's third season. Had it out last week in cold temps last week. Never got above -8 F the wholw day and it ran like a champ, no hesitation at all when trying to start it. Headed up on the Mtn in about an hour so we'll see what we find out

I would say it is the starter relay. My Apex would just click when the relay was cold up on the hill, and start just fine at lower elevation. Snow can get into the relay and freeze causing this problem. I replaced the relay and used a little grease on the connections and no problems since.

I just had this happen to me yesterday. Mine would just click as you released the key. Check your ignition switch for moisture. We have an 07 Phazer Mtn and after I dried out the ignition switch my problem was solved. I pulled the boot off the back of the switch and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner inside the switch. The switch on the apex vs phazer is the same, so I would imagine this would fix your problem.

You may need to replace it. I found that even in a heated garage once the 3 year mark hits, it doesn't hold a charge very well. I put a new one in and keep the old one on a batt maintainer and toss it in as a spare..

Thanks

Thanks for the replies guys pulled the sled off the mountain last night and it appears to just be a worn out battery, won't consistantly hold the charge, guess it's time for a new one, so what's the best lightweight battery as long as I'm replacing it
