Apex bar riser questions...how far?

I got to get the bars higher on my '07 Apex mountain. I've been searching through the forums and haven't found what I'm looking for yet, so, here's some questions:

-How far can you go without changing cables etc...?
-What is needed to go about 5-6 inches higher than stock (maybe more)?
-Are there any strength/bending issues when you get too tall?
-What's the cheapest way to do it? -this is the most important question :)

I'm 6'5" and over 270 when all geared up, and don't want to twist it like tinfoil when I pull it over hard.

Thanks!

I had a 2" higher steering post from CR Racing as well as 8" risers without extending throttle cables.Any more than that i'd think you would need a longer set of cables.Cheap way is a adapter block for the stock post and a set of 8-10" risers.RSI from Gravity works racing should be able to set you up.

I went with a 2 inch rox on top of the standard mountain riser put me 9.25 from the steering shaft but being as tall as you are your going to need more and i think the height I went is pretty much max without cable and wire extensions. I'm 6'1".

I'm 6'8" about 275 and I did 2" riser off the stock post. I was concerned to go more as i didn't want to snap the post when pulling hard.

Good luck!:beer;

I put a piviot adapter at the base of mine which raised it 1 1/2 inches and then i put an 8 inch riser on it which is 1 inch taller than stock. It is only 2 1/2 inches taller total but standing straight up (3" foreward) It made a huge difference and stock cables work but you will have to reroute the throttle under the bars or your tors code will get activated. any taller and you will need a new throttle cable. FYI dont use an extension they are 10 inches longer and there is no where to reroute it with out binding, I tried didn't work. I think mtn performance makes cables 3 inches longer if you need. BTW i am 6'1" tall and 275 works great no problems or breakage.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I can go about 2 - 2 1/2 inches higher without longer cables.

I like the idea of putting the base on the post so I can rotate the bars forward (like at gravityworxracing.com). It looks like I can get an adapter and the risers for about $85 from them.

Is there another brand or place I should look or is there stuff the best (for the price)?

i am 6' 7" and 300. put a two inch pivoting rox riser, no change to the cables and it is just right. can ride standing straight up, not bent over at all. rolled the bars forward a little, seemed to be a little more comfortable

Thanks for the good words guys.

Getting rid of the block, putting the pivot adapter on the plate, and going up with the pivot riser from there is definately the way to go for the Apex.
This combonation allows you to get more forward on the machine and go straight up, rather than pushing back. It makes about a 2" difference in height right there, and then you can go a couple inches higher with out extending cables, making a real difference.

You need the pivot adapter,
the risers,
and the off set adapters (not on web site yet) if you want to mount up to stock bars. The pivot adapter puts the pivot risers right in the bend of the stock bars, they all do this, so the new pivot adapter moves the mount in to the stock location.

At the sled shows we are doing a package price of $104 for this kit, so I'll honor that here plus $8 S&H in USA or $12 to canada. It saves 10% from straight retail and is a couple bucks less on S&H
