Anyone Who Sleds In Bc Mountains Read This

Sounds absolutely GREAT to me!!!!!

(Slides the soap box out)

no logging, road building, snowmobiling, heli and cat skiing. hmm, you know sounds like a great thing to do. forests need to be logged for one thing, but proper management hasn't been effectively practiced that long but since logging has been labeled evil has to be out of the question. What about the million or so acres in canada that are basically dead from the pine beetle, so if it hits those protected forests they caribeu will have nice dead sticks to live in. also road building is such a bad thing, granted i don't want a system of highways and exits all over. But a few access roads would be nice, and i'm sure the experts that study them wouldn't mind them either. I'm not sure if they go out and study them like they do in the states, but they ummm DRIVE as far as they can to access them. Then Snowmobiling whoa buddy. Destroying the nice untracked powder that they look at while they walk through the rest. And i've heard the lame excuse of that the snowmobiles scare them and they run away using energy. so maybe we should elimate all of the predators so they don't have to run away from stuff that frightens them. I'm sure the same reason is heli and cat skiing. besides the trees we have to clear out of the trail getting to the play areas i would love to know the damage we cause. i know theres a few a$$es out and they get amplifyed, but c'mon. the skiing part cracks me up the most. watch out for the very distubing and scary skiiers.

ok i think i'll let the box rest now

We knew this was coming. Hopefully there's still something we can do after all the letters sent in last year, we'll have to start again.
The one thing that really twists me is the fact that "celebrities" and companies from another country have decided that they have a say and input into something I beleive should be left to Canadians. When did celebrities become so important anyway. Drives me crazy.
I suppose I was wrong when I assumed that I shouldn't write emails and letters against proposed closures in the US. I always thought that you have to be a resident in order to have a say. I think we should get all of those scam artists from South Africa to start writing letters too. Of course there's will end with "and please cash this cheque for me and send back only half". I've got nothing against the US.
Sorry for the semi-highjack.

Edit: Can I join SAWS or the BRC as a non-US citizen? Is there a canadian version of SAWS or BRC? Everything seems to get voiced through the local clubs rather than one organization. I would have liked to see the BCSF attend the sled shows with big banners announcing possible closures.

this is one thing everybody should fight. I'm not Canadian but ride up there not as much as in the states but i get tired of the "it's not where i go so i'm not too worried about it" attitude. because it spreds like wildfire. they won't stop at just shutting down one area.

those dumb sons of *****'s ive been in the mtns not only do i see more caribou every year and they are thriving like no other and the goverment hasn't even done there recovery plan?..... and anyone who says there scared of sledders has obviously never seen a caribou they stop look at you and then carry on with there adventure....

Does anyone know if it is possible for an out of country sledder to become a member of the BC snowmobile federation?

If it is possible that american pressure has made the decisions here in canada then why wouldn't it be possible for them to reverse decisions made by our government.

We just need to form a special interest group of our own before we loose all of our rec. areas.
