Anyone try e-cigs?

These are something I recently just found out about. I never knew they existed. :face-icon-small-blu A friend online bought one for his wife, and she's been doing quite well with it.

Which leads me to want more info. Yes, I'm a smoker. :face-icon-small-sho One who is seriously thinking of quitting, but don't want to gain the weight that a lot whom quit do. I've already talked to my doctor about Chantix, and done some research on that.

I like the idea of the e-cig since one can taper down to 0 nicotine. This to me seems like an ideal way to work my way to quitting. I've been looking online, and holy cow are there a lot of different brands.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Recommendations on any specific brands?

E Cig

I tried them about a year ago. Seemed to work I just didn't put enough effort into to it. I picked up a started set for around $70.00. Been thinking of pulling it out and giving it another try. Really freaks people out when you take a hit in their house!

Good luck!

I know 2 people who have used these.. They used the BLU one I believe.. Its crazy because when you exhale it looks like smoke, but its just water vapaor.. Can blow smoke rings n all.. :) Anyway, the first person had great results. Totally quit smoking within a month or so of using it.. Second person, not as great of results. They can quit for a week or 2, but are right back to smoking the real thing.. I think the trick is really having the WANT to quit smoking on top of using these. Good luck with quitting.. You will feel 100 times better every day..

Thanks guys! :)

I do have the mindset to quit, though there is no way I could do a cold turkey. Tried it, FAIL. Have actually quit several times in the past, but always back to it. I don't want another fail, so this idea really intrigues me. The fact that you can get cartridges with zero nicotine, after you drop in nicotine, is also nice. Easier to wean out of the hand habit, instead of grabbing for food. I'm not really partial to 3 months on a pill that may or may not give me some really funky side effects.

The idea of this makes me feel like I can do it this time...but in researching sounds like the good ones are more expensive (makes sense, and also still WAY cheaper than cigs). I would like to make sure I get a good product, and one that has the varying levels of nicotine. I don't necessarily trust the reviews I read on the product websites, so thus asking here for any experience or knowledge.

I have no experiance with e cigs but i was a smoker. I think that any thing that mimics having a cig in your hand and smoking one will still make it hard to quit ,as you are continuing the the habbit of using in the same manner. Does this make sence? I went cold turkey the first time and it lasted 10 years. Why did i start again long short story. Your brain will trick you every time as to why you need to smoke again be on guard no matter what it really has to be something you want badly.I started smoking again and it went for 3 years and i knew i needed to quit again . I chose hipnosis and boy was that an experiance. But you know what i can not remember ever smoking, i mean i know i did but i really can not see my self with a cig. Good luck to you like i said you have to really want it or it's not going to happen.

Even if I were to keep up the *hand* habit with the 0 nicotine cartridges, I could deal with that and be happy. Zero tar with any of the levels of nicotine.

I went with NJOY brand after my research...got my little starter kit, and extras I ordered in the mail today. They typically come with higher nicotine cartridges, so I ordered some lower ones along with.

After a few hours with...definitely something I think I can stick with. From what I know with some others experiences, there are few times when one may have a real cig versus this. It's kind of weird...there is a vapor from when you *smoke* that looks like smoke, but it is a mist vapor, and NO smell. My pups HATE my cigs and move away from me....and with this they are up in face sniffing away and trying to give me kisses. Good sign there! :)

And the end lights up when you puff on it......hahahahaha.

Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else happens to be thinking about this.

Just like others have said here, you have to want to quit to do it, I quit 2 years ago just cold turkey, the patches actually made me want to smoke. My wife though did the patches and she had been smoking for the last 20+ years and it worked for her.Pretty much to each their own, the biggest thing is commiting to quit!Good luck you can do it!

IMHO half the addition is due to the chemicals involved in the processing of tobacco.

I grew my own crop of tobacco 2 seasons ago which yielded me enough tobacco to smoke for a year or more. The nicotine content is high.

Only I found it hard to smoke only my own tobacco, and preferred the store boughten as after smoking a smoke of my own grown there was something missing.
What was missing was the chemicals.

I tried Zyban 3 years ago in an attempt to quit.
Never worked.
Gotta want to quit.
Part of me does & part of me does not.

Best of luck to those quiting.
Possibly one day I will.
