Anyone Tried BetterBars?

Makes of BetterBoards also have a product called BetterBars, which replaces the bar on the stock running boards on the Pros/Semi-Pros. I have a '11 Semi-Pro and after 4 days of riding I snapped the running boards off right underneath where they bolt on up towards the front of the sleds. From Polaris, replacements are $150 for both sides, but if I go the BetterBar route they are $200. I would just like to know if anyone has any experience with the BetterBars because I need to order QUICKLY as I'm making another trip out west in a couple weeks. Thanks in advance!

I've got'em on my 07D7. They are easy to install and provide a much firmer tunnel (less flex and twisting). I've never heard of anyone regretting them, why buy stock again if you already know that you can/will bend them.

As far as I know... the Better bars are only for the IQ chassis.

The pro had that part of the board upgraded for 2012... might be a warranty item if the sled is not thrashed in other ways.

The only real problem I've seen on the PRO running board tubes is when people have the powdercoated and over-bake/over-age the metal (quite common in high tech Aluminum alloys)

.

if it is an upgrade on the 12 i have a set i would sell you for $100 plus shipping that are brand new.

Semi-Pro is what I refer to my Standard RMK as. There is unfortunately no warrantee because I have already put on a set of Feethookers, even though that is not where the boards broke, and because it was a rental sled before that I bought from Bear Lodge.

Hairy Mark - you have mail!

Chad as already stated the Snowmobile Better Boards product "Better Bars" are a chromoly direct replacement part that only work on the IQ RAW platform. The PRO chassis has a different front mounting angle and the footbed plate has a multi angle rolled edge versus a single rolled inset like the IQ RAW. Most of the breaking has been going on in the cast end caps as opposed to the actual aluminum swedge honeycomb bar. For PRO consumers that have a problem with breaking that outer support bar, I used to suggest the HD version of Better Boards. In several hundred instances that was a better solution than any alternative.

If your's is a situation of long term abuse maybe you could simply replace it with the factory stock support and get along well for the rest of your ownership (who knows what happened to it as a rental). You might also contact Carl the feethooker guy and see if he can build you a thicker replacement board. The added thickness really does firm up and strengthen the overall setup.
