Anyone running the new 3" track?

yeah, he did, lives down the way from me, he posted up pictures of it a month back. the thing looks crazy, its realy freakin long, and 3" paddles are crazy.
09 xp with a 174x16x3 slow and steady is how that sucker works

3" track

There are 6 of us running the 174X16X3 on their sleds here in NW Montana, two Polaris edges and the rest doos. All the doos have stock engines. I don't know what my track speed is because I haven't been able to see my speedo all year, too much snow. I can tell that this track pulls harder and slips less than the 174,2.5 that I had on last year. I saw in the low 40's last year with the 2.5 and expect to see the same this year when thing clear up. I ride around Kalispell, Montana. We are never farther than 30 feet from a tree. Momentum is the key for the riding around here. The sled that can accelerate from 0 to 30 in the shortest distance, without digging a hole will always win the momentum game. Big tracks are the answer. I had an Edge in '03 with a 159 on it. Consider this, the 174, 16 has a 20% bigger footprint than the 159 and the paddles are 50% bigger. The 174 3" weighs only 11 pounds more.

The reason that you can go more places in the Spring, is that you have more traction available. We are trying to get Spring traction in December and January.

How hard is it to put a 3" 174 on a 2007 151 summit. I have done the drop and roll on a 1985 polaris using Wongs kit but used a stock chain case. What did you do for rails and tunnel ext.

You will have to measure the center to center distance of your chain case. That might be your limiting factor. I used just normal rail and tunnel extensions.

Robbie, when is your Extended Chain Case available??

3"

There is a local guy here who is welding two cases together. He did that last year also. They seem to work fine. It is cheaper to do that than make billet ones. I'll make a few billet cases, but it won't be until spring.

I've finally got too see my speedo. It looks like I have about 40 mph track speed with the 174 3". Our elevation is about 6500 feet.

I don't know what pitch your sled came with stock. If it isn't 3" then you will have to change drivers. Drivers, rail extension, and tunnel extension would be all you'd need.
