Ok so I want to run the Rk Tech drop in kit on my 02 800 but I am a little skiddish for a few reasons.

11. Do not run the BR9ECS plug run the BR9EYA plugs (Arctic Cat) or BR9ES gap the plug @.020”
Why the different plugs? I thought you had to run the ECS plugs with the mpem?

12. PREMIX a 150:1 oil ratio in 1st tank of fuel. RKT Recommends to always premix at 150:1 in addition to your oil injection system. Break in engine with a mineral based oil and NEVER run ANY synthetic oil in this engine.> Ever!
Why Run mineral Oil? I was planning on running redline why not synthetic oil?

13. IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE ANY aftermarket silencer on this set-up. Use the stock pipe and muffler. This “kit” was not tested with any other pipe/silencer combination.

I bought my sled with an after market can! What now can I still run this kit?

Kelsey just doesn't use aftermarket cans. It won't hurt. I ran an HPS can with his pistons and head for quite a while with no problems.

I don't know the deal with the mineral oil.

Call Kelsey up direct and ask him all of the above questions and he will be more than happy and patient to answer all of them in greater detail.:face-icon-small-hap

i dont know about the older doo 800s drop in kits......but the newer 04-06 rev 800 drop in kits have a very higher failure rate, do a search or ask around, this is not a secret, over 101 threads about this here and on dootalk......its best to call this a tuner kit that runs the ragged edge and runs great on the flats, but it has no place up against the mighty BB, tq rules the hills and freewheel hp rules the flats

the BB 860 is working great

So do you think it would be better to just buy a twin ring wisco or MCB direct replacement and a cheater head? I wish I had the cash to go BB!

feel free to call anytime.. always willing to answer any and all questions..
OH.. as for the "hatchers" info.. The kits are the same from 01 to 07.... High failure rate.. not true.. ..

So, again.. I am always willing to discuss anyhting about my products at anytime..

Thanks I sent you an email last night with some of the same questions. I have heard allot of good things after running a search sounds like WISECO is not a good Idea. I just want to make sure I can run what I have.

I found the after market can and pipe on my '04 cost me power. It wasn't hard to find a stock muffler, a lot of dealers have them laying around as take offs when a can is installed. The smooth power was worth a lot more then the weight savings.

Best thing I did with that sled was converting back to the stock set up. I never got to install the RKT kit I'd bought, the sled caught fire first.. at the gas station..

I have two bits of advice. First only take advice from people who have first hand experience with any aftermarket product. Second, if you buy anything from RKT follow the directions to the letter. He has more time tuning his stuff than most people spend riding in a lifetime. He stuff works.

Don't beleive it. I had the 827 kit in my '06 and it never ran the same way twice. I live less than 2 hours from Kelsey and he was never willing to take a look. Every time I called I got basically the same answer "all sleds are different and your going to have to figure it out".
Without guidance from Kelsey IMO the high failure rate of RK kits comes from having to experiment.

As a matter of fact Big John actually helped me more with the RKT stuff than Kelsey did so I'd go with his stuff first.

Sorry Kelsey just calling it like it is.

So maybe the 10 or so people I personally know who say this are all liars, a maybe the pistons they replaced are not really bad?…or maybe the over 100 threads about what I speak is false also…:face-icon-small-coo

RKT,

again, for the record id have your 860 in a second if i was back on skidoo....but im not, so...

make me a BB for the 2010 M8....looking for real hill climbing tq power not magic pipes and cans

I have heard RKT went to a new piston that is supposed to make their kits better then they had been anyone know if this is true? I haven't been here long enough to know the beefs. I just want the best products in my sled ASAP so I can get her running again! RKT is 2 hrs away I would drive to pick up a kit just to have it the same day. Heck tow the sled up fix it at my buddies in logan and ride toney's to break her in not bad.

Or, MAYBE, you just do not have all the facts (sort alike other things you like to think you know but only have 1 side of the story)... afterall... there are only about 3000 (yes, 3000) of the drop in kits on the snow.. so, if they were all crapping out.. I think you would hear about more..
In reality, there are always reason behind ANY and ALL failures... many like to immediately put the blame on what they feel is the easiest.. Just because they "feel" that there was a problem with a particular part does not make it a FACT...

Again, this kit has been around for 8 years or better.. it is a PROVEN performer and has withstood the test of time.. You can not argue with its success rate and stories of its performance in the field (same for the 827) Call up Dynotech Jim and ask about the 827s and the drop in kits he has seen pass through his shop in NY.. I have never met the guy, he will give you the straight dope on them.

With any engine mod, there can be failures.. but again, the track record of the drop in kit and the 827 stand on their own merit.. Sorta like Chevy trucks.. there is whole website dedicated to the failures of the Chevy trucks... but I can attest to the fact that they are rock solid... Even though I currently drive a Dodge..:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-sho

Anyway, Ray, it is nice to know that you can still be counted on to dog out RK Tek products whenever they are asked about.. even though you have NEVER owned any of RKT products.. I guess somethings will never change.. I was hoping it would.. but, I guess, not..

ya know , like Madmax, said, sometimes it is better to have 1st hand info on the real story than to assume that what you hear is correct..

For the original thread guy... Sorry, this got all muddled with hear-say and BS.. if you want to talk about a kit, feel free to call anytime or yo ucan call my customers, or just do a search on DooTalk about the drop in kit.. Sure, you will find a few bad stories. when you do, look and see that is the SAME 4 or 5 people telling the SAME story over and over.. read through the BS and you will find hundreds of posts about the succcess of the kit..
Again, sorry the thread got polluted... call anytime.

Ray, I did a big bore on the M8.. ran fine.. the new 2010 M8 requires other mods to run to its potential.. done several of those already... no pipes required..

anyone around here, that i can ride or ride with to compair?

Unfortunately.. not.. we have not even done ours yet,, but have done some others for savvy tuners.. We are still trying to get ours to works its best in stock form before we pour the mods to it.. Hopefully this weekend we will get to where we need to be with ours

I'll keep ya posted
