Anyone runnin a GM 6.5 Turbo diesel?

I had a 2000 sierra the last few years, was a good truck had a manual wastegate control, full gauges, remote mounted pmd, 4" exhaust into a set of 6" bullhaulers, afe stage 2 intake 40hp injectors ported upper intake, b+m Turnover, sounded great straightpiped through the big stacks but just didnt make the power i wanted breaking point was my pump started surging and i really didnt care to replace it so traded it in for a 02 cummins and will never look back, the dodge will be with me till i die

Check out heath diesel also, i prefered them over walt at ssdiesel and also gmdiesel.com

Needs an inner-cooler !! I had one in a C-3500 that we pulled a 38 ft g-neck with. When the air was cool at night it would really haul *** but in the heat of the day the temp gauge and the pyro would keep climbing and the speedo slipping backwards !! >>>>.

at the amount of boost they are putting out, an intercooler won't help much..any diesel will see the effects from warmer air. even my dodge that has a city diesel intercooler..when you start making boost of 20lbs or more you will see a benefit.

I have a 95 GMC 3500 dually with a 6.5L Diesel, I live up here in Breckenridge and the old truck doesn't like to pull up the hills with a 21 foot enclosed snowmobile trailer very well. I have 160,000 miles on the truck and i've had to stick around 3000 into it so far. I love my truck but it dosen't have the hp that a cummins would give you, if the conversion works and isn't hard i would do it! Your other option would be getting some 90hp injectors, chipping it and putting the high flow mech. injection pump, with that a 4in or bigger exhaust and a controllable wastegate to set boost higher would really open up the hp on the 6.5. I've only done a few things to mine, and im doing the 40hp injectors soon, ill let you know how they work! Also if your pulling do the cooler upgrade or it'll run hot! SSdieselsupply is a good site, Heath is another one and Kennedy is also a good site for the 6.5 aftermarket parts and OEM replacement s parts, hope that helps you out!

Yea let me know how those injectors work out for ya! I plan on doing the cooling system upgrade with the 180 degree thermostat, new rad, and d-max style fan when I get the marine injectors and wastegate actuator.

I already have the ssdiesel turbo back stack kit on. Sounds great and performs well. Can't wait to bump up the fuel to get some real black smoke comin from those stacks!

I would do a chip if they offered one for the '92. But all I can do is turn the screw up on the injection pump (which is pretty cost effective if ya ask me!)

As for the cummins swap, I'll be doing that next year probably. Going to try to find a donor 94-97 truck (dually so I can yank the Dana 88 rear end out of it and convert to single rear wheels). Start building up the motor as I can afford it.

But next up is some tires for sure. Winters coming up and my cooper discoverer m/s's are lookin pretty hurtin, especially the rears

Probably going to bump up the size to 33x12.5x16 (bf goody mut terrain's, the new style km/2's), crank up the torsion bars so they'll clear up front. Should look pretty gooood

Well it's not my own personal truck, but my dad has a 6.5 with basically everything you can do done to it.

We've guessed it to be around 400hp.. it's a ton of fun.

This is what it's got done to it.
Different computer, or a chip. It pretty well both in 1.
Bigger injectors, can't remember the size.
Cold air kit.
Modified Intake
3" Crossover? I think?
Stronger Wastegate
It's running at least twice more boost than stock.
Duramax fan

COULD BE MISSIN SOME THINGS.

Next thing will probably be an intercooler to keep the temps down.

No problems with it really. Except it does get pretty hot sometimes.

We also relocated one of the computer module things (sorry it's not my truck i can't recall all the names of everything) to behind the bumber where it stays a lot cooler.

Only thing really left to do is put a twin turbo on the beast.

Heath Diesel was a lot of help.
