anyone ride with sixisxone instead of tekvest?

in regards to buying a tekvest vs. sixsixone... i was curious if anyone has wore the sixsixone and what they thought about it. money isnt an issue and i know tekvest makes a nice product, i was just wondering if they were on par with the tekvests.
thanks

I don't think the core saver has nearly as much protection as the tekvest. I was not impressed by the 661 and was glad I did not order one. Just a jersey with a few pads on it.

I like the Thor impact rig, it has a removable kidney belt, removable back protector and can be adjusted for size. It is designed for motocross or quad riding but has worked well for me sleding. The only issue I have had with it is that it makes me stink!!! when I use it.

+1. I don't care much for the pressure suits at all. Maybe it's that I haven't found one that's comfortable, but as mentioned above they're really just a jersey with some armor in places.

Sledding I wear a tekvest freestyle with the shoulder pads. Keeps you warm, but still provides some temp control based on how snug you wear it. Cinch it down on cold days and it tends to keep me warmer.

Tekvest has far more coverage and will fit under a jacket better than a pressure suit will.

If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with the trail pro flavor. Debated for a while between the two, and I wish i'd have gotten the trail pro model.

Since I wear the Core Saver, I guess I am a gal. You tool

Where do I put my testicles, as I must be also.

Hated the tekvest, way too restrictive for my liking. I know the core saver doesn't offer the protection that a tekvest does, but I was only looking for some extra protection from the occasional handlebar smack or other unplanned accident.

x2, I like my core saver, saved me a few times from some stylish dismounts. May not be as "good" as KLIM gear, but it is still better than not having any protection.

haha... my gal rides with a tekvest super sport. i guess she is one of the guys then?

thanks for the feed back folks. i know the tekvests offer a good amount of protection. i was just wondering how the sixsixones hold up because they have a kidney belt on them already. thanks again...

You will get alot of varying opinions on this topic. 661 carries a large line of different model protectors so don't limit yourself. If you are a rider who is typically warm all the time I doubt you will be happy with a Tek Vest. My experience has been that they are bulky and offer little to no breathabilty. In all the years of production I have seen no changes or design impovements to indicate continued research with their product. Remember Tek Vest is a race vest that was designed to be put on for a race and taken off after. Not necessarily meant to be worn all day in the back country. Again, we are all different and these are just my opinions.
And I too fall into the "Sally" catagory as the Core Saver is my choice as well. Is it perfect? Not entirely. On the plus side is that it's design has been updated a couple times since its beginning. And the design was aided by the likes of the Metal Mulisha and these guys crash hard. Flexible spinal protection that conforms rather than a solid hard chunk of plastic. Shoulder, chest and Rib protection they really cover the bases. As stated earlier they have a kidney belt too although I don't feel it lines up correctly for everyone.
I also wear a pressure suit for woods riding and supermoto. Adds even more protection with padded plastic guards to shoulders elbows and forearms. Perfect for bouncing off of trees. :D EVS Thor Fox Alpinestars and more all make a design similar to this.
In the end all protection is a compromise. And be honest about the type of riding you do. I am a huge safety advocate, but even I reached a point that my safety gear was effecting my riding. If you are sweating so hard that you would rather not wear your protective gear then you won't and it doesn't do any good in your closet. This can also lead to dehydration which no one thinks about in the back country. Is it so stiff that you constantly notice it is there and won't flex to accomidate your riding style? You can never predict every accident, but are you regularly doing huge drops and jumps. Or, do you prefer small climbs and boondocking through the trees? Maybe it is as easy as going to your local dealer and trying both on. My bet is that you would probably prefer one over the other just standing in a showroom.
Sorry for the long read, but I hope it helps.

Yes better than nothing. But is it better than the other gear on the market?

I broke 2 ribs with my 661 coresaver on...would have been worse without it.

I don't care who designed it, and I have no sales numbers to worry about. I am not trying to promote sales.

It's NOT good for long torso's leaves lower ribs unprotected and the kidney belt deally slides up.

It is not that great, but better than nothing, heck yeah!

When somebody steps up and makes a tall size chest protector I'll be buying one.

Totally agree, i felt much more protected in my tek trail pro, but with that feeling comes some lose of movement. I didn't like that. I'm only 5-11, so the coverage is pretty decent. And yes the kidney belt slides up after 10 mintues or riding.

good to know about the long torso issue. and the kidney belt riding up... i would hate to have to mod the vest first day. i am gonna go to play it again sports and get an old catchers chest protector... that should do it...

I assume you were referring to my post. I'm glad all the extra time I spend trying to help others out is so appreciated. I'm involved in this industry because I like helping people and I have true passion for the sport. I know I will never be rich working in this industry. That said, not once did I try to sell anything. I'm fairly confident that we see more customers face to face in a day than other dealers on here see in a month. I feel I have a pretty good idea what customers are buying, why they are buying it, what they are looking for and what their complaints are. I guess I just don't want to see all those dealer shows and product seminars go to waste. :D
As I stated it is best to try stuff on. In the end it just needs to fit and work for you.
I have passed on to manufactures your concerns with tall sizes. As well I have offered to give input to new product design specific to snowmobiling. I just need to quit being so lazy and get this going. Please mail me with any input and suggestions.
And why the heck is everyone so dang crabby and negative on here lately. Lighten up a bit. Try smiling for a change :D and if that doesn't work, try some :beer;
Cheers everyone.

i wasnt saying anything in regards to your post. infact thanks for the input. i know i am crabby cuz its a 1,000,000,000 degrees and i need it to snow tonight! maybe i will just fill my coat full of packing peanuts... hmmm. i may be onto something.
