Anyone one else breaking clutch springs??

Just took mine in for recall work and they found a broken primary spring. Seemed to run sluggish on the bottomend but never really had a huge impact on performance. Anyone else have this??

Yes, multiple guys have had the stock springs breaking. I think the ones that have broke have mostly happend around 200-500 miles. Bad batch i suppose

From what we have seen, the tangs on the end of the springs are digging into the aluminum. The spring shouldn't spin, but centrifugal force you know. Round the ends so the spring won't snag. Seems to be working so far.

1300 km flawless then primary spring broke, tps failing, sled runninglike crap. Just got back from dealer for the 2 nd time in a week hopefully runs well this time.....

I just took my clutch apart tonight and yep it is broke on the clutch cover end, the first turn of the spring was broke and stuck in the cover. Sled has less than 300 miles.

I know these are dumb questions but I'm new to this... How are you guys telling your springs are broke? Is there a way to tell without pulling the cover off? And the spring should be spinning with the clutch?

You can look in your primary between the spider and cover and see if it's broken. Got to spin the primary to look at all points of the spring down in the spider cup, but you can see all of the spring. It should take a first time wrencher only 10-15 minutes max though to take the cover off/on to check the spring out. Just be careful to put the cover back on evenly with the spring pressure against you, or you can damage the bushing in the cover.
