Save money or just follow in poo foot steps? Gonna put BR9EYA in...

I know there is chart that describes the meaning of the characters but would love to know if there is a better plug...I called 3 dealers and they all said it doesn't matter anymore...

Cat has been running a br9eya forever just on the 18 up they went to a br9es. so are you saying they're back to another br9eya?

19 has 9ES. I need to look at my 18 tomorrow. BR9EYA is a better plug. BPR9ES is a cheaper plug. A lot of axys guys switched over, including myself when I had my axys.

According to ngk chart, the bpr9es means this -
P means projected insulator
R means resistor

Br9es would not have a projected insulator.
Br9eya is fouling resistant

I read the projected insulator provides better chance of combustion because it protrudes further.

I would think one would be safe going from a pr9 to just an r9. May not perform as well though?

as racinstation said, it's not a cost concern, it's head design. all ctec2 engines come with the BPR9ES. look at any 600 and you'll see it's been the same since they were introduced in 2014. you are only noticing it starting in 2018 because of the change from the suzuki to ctec2 800.

My 18 has BR9EYA

Change from the 2-plug per cylinder design of the zuke motor to a one plug per cylinder on the ctec.

Then somewhere between being built and your ownership they got changed.

I bought it brand new, pulled them out myself and changed them for second season, it came with BR9EYA, 2018 MC 800

All 600 and 800 C-tec motors should have come with BPR9ES from factory. Somebody must have switched them. I saw a few 2018 sleds that had new plugs because guys thought they were fouling plugs in the first few miles of break in.

Thank you for confirming my previous statement. I was starting to second guess myself and I'm on vacation right now so I wasn't able to verify. As to why Dave's particular sled had something different, I'm not sure.
