revrider, that's not a v-max, thats a warrior....

the vboost thing was advertised on early models, but is still present on all of them... imho, find a Kerker 4-1 race pipe for that bike, jet the carbs and ride the piss of out of it... the kerker 4-1 with the comp baffle make that thing sound like a small block v8, simply awesome!!!!

I had a friend that had one of the early ones, something like 86 or 87, I believe it had around 145hp so it was pretty powerful for the time. It was a nice riding bike. He never had any problems with it.

They all had the v boost it wasnt an option. The boost kicks in around 5700rpm, its basically two carbs instead of one just dumping air/fuel into the cylinders at higher revs that gives you the "boost" feeling. They were pretty much unchanged from 1985 when they came out until they were retired in like 2005. They do have a new one out for 2009 but its a completely different bike and puts out about 198hp stock. I had a 94 and it was a blast to ride and race from stop light to stop light or take out on the 1/8 mile track where mine ran in the high 8s low 9s stock. You can pick up a new 05 for around $9k, but the new one will run around $18k but Id like to take one for a spin!
