Put some extra oil in the tank each time you run it and drive it like you stole it...

I'm not sure how adding oil would stop this failure? I think the motors might have one or two other issues. But I will try just about anything these day! :becky:

I thought you might have some input!- SKIBREZZE-

LOL, that is my input. I decided to cut my losses after it lost the rod bearing and punched a hole in the case. The fix might address the clearance and skirt breakage issues, but there is still a fuel issue to be dealt with and I gave it way more effort than 99% of rest of this forum would. I kept saying that I could fix it. I honestly would never advise you to dump more money into a CFI-4 motor. That is unless I still have some parts that you would like to buy. I Still have an extra VR, stator, a piston or 2, and a whole broke motor. :face-icon-small-sho

We did one for a customer who was replacing a short block and then a friend of mine just did his. Neither sled has enough miles on them yet to really comment on how it works. The install goes fine although they recommend reusing the original base gasket and I think I'd change them both if you're doing that much work.

dfacey-thanks post back when you get some results. Skibreeze-I think you are 100% correct about it be a two-fold problem of piston/skirt issues and fuel mapping. I already have a pcv so I'm hoping "THE FIX" cures the piston/skirt issue. My 09 D8 still has one year of warrenty, so do I let it fail and try to get "The Fix" when they repair it. Or do I put the "The FIX" in now. I kinda beleive that once one fails on the top, no matter how good you think you have the bottom it is always a risk. I have seen a lot of cranks go after fixing the top. So do I protect the crank and do it now? or risk it. Maybe
just make sure the whole motor gets replaced and put "The Fix" in then? :face-icon-small-dis

I agree about the bottom end potentially failing if left stock. I'm telling you, you will be happier when that thing is gone.

I agree it's just that $10000ish thing for a pro that I can't justify to my wife! any ideas on that problem?:face-icon-small-win

Sell it, ride your 1991 phazer II this year, and buy a used pro next year. If you ride the phazer, maybe I can keep up with you!

slopoke-forcast is looking better!!! we just need to link a couple of these storms together then it's game on-
