Anyone here interested in a cross country snowmobile race?

I love the idea of an offroad type race for sleds. I think the ISDE format would be cool. That way you could keep the crazy stuff in a controlled area and call them "special tests" How did the thing at Bearpaw go? After following that thread I thought it sounded like a bunch of locals trying to have a race in their backyard so they could see some carnage. If you make it FUN, the second year will be bigger and so on. A good club is needed because it will take some help. The way I see it, 50-75 miles with 4 or 5 "special tests" all differant, ranging from a hillclimb to a drag race or an obstacle course, maybe a timed section or two, just like an ISDE? A gas stop, and a way to have a smaller loop for the not so gung ho, and the kids. It would be cool to get some local shops involved to get some prizes. I can't believe how many Desert 100's I went to and rode both days in hopes of getting a free pair of grips, or a quart of oil at the awards presentation! And two FREE t-shirts! Good luck, I am already excited!!!!!! -00's Ps- I'll volunteer before and after, but if you make it happen I couldn't miss it.

A lot of great suggestions here. It will take alot of effort to pull this off.
Im committed and have already started working on planning.. Hopefully we can get something going that will benefit the community, and be a great time for all. Keep the ideas rolling.

schwietzer mountain resort in idaho seemed to pull off the snowcross this year.I think it would be awesome if you could coordinate with them to get people to go to both events??!! I didn't go but i saw the pics on here. I also heard that in the past they'd open up the resort to ride sleds for a couple weeks after they closed.

Im looking for this first race to be a true Cross Country style event. something like the Iorndog but in a smaller scale.. There is defiantly a need here in the NW for both style of events. The Ski areas are a prime spot for a spring time race or hill climb.

I'd be really interested in a Washington XC race. Back in the day my old man and his buddies used to do a XC race from the last resort by roslyn over the ridge through teanaway, down the N. Fork road and back and then went over teanaway butte and back to the last resort. He said they did like four laps. Also, what about from leaving from the last resort restaurant by cascade playtime rentals and going up through lake ann and out through N. Fork Teanaway and up over the ridge back to the last resort. Theres plenty of room at he Last Resort to get vendors and bands in if the owners of the businesses agreed of course. Just throwing that out there

You've hit the nail on the head.. we'll see how it works out, but any speed race on FS property is likely not to happen. a ISDE format with special test however may be an option.

Well how much of it is FS property because we could, if there isn't much FS land to cross, slow down to an agreed speed through the land then take off once we're off FS land. Just an idea...
