Im considering promoting and sponsoring a Wa state cross country snowmobile race.
The format would be similar to whats done in the dirtbike world. And of course have a substantial portion of night racing. It might be several shorter 10 to 15 mile laps or a few 50 mile laps. I have some thoughts on where it may be able to be held and have started preliminary planning. I know there used to be a few events in Wa, but I havent heard anything for years.
Im interested in your thought and comments, please fire away.

XC race

2zeros has tried planting the seed on here before regarding this same suggestion, but really no interest as far as people really wanting to do that. I think the Stampede Pass area would be a great area since it has such a vast selection of trails plus a bunch of them loop in some way or another. Parking there would probably be better than what most sno-parks have to offer also with a big showing of people. I wonder if the roads could become a closed course during the race, so there would not be any head-ons of riders coming the other direction.

P.P.

The only way you could get this going nowadays is to call it a "charity" race and organize it as such. Find something that is really hard for the state to turn down.....

Thats not a bad idea .. How about "endangered sledders for open riding'

State or fed property is used quite often for off road events. Although the squeeze is certainly on. Theres a 24hr dirt bike race next weekend at reitter. Im having a problem seeing the diff. We'll see how far I can get.

A couple of years ago I was selling beer for a large brewery to the buyers at the summit and I told them they should do a Jackson Hole type event with a hillclimb up the tripple chair at Ski Acers at the end of the year.

They were very interested in doing this at the end of the year after they close for skiing. We talked about getting a bunch of live bands and build a snow cross track and a hill climb event and they loved the idea and told me to go to work on it.

Well, I'm out of the beer business now but I still have the contacts and I'm sure they still have the interest. You could add cross country event to this idea as well.

Summit central is private property and they can do what ever they want without the forest circus being involved at all. The insurance might be an issue but they thought they could pull it off.

Don't you guys think they could have a huge event and pack the place? Add a bunch of local sponsors and get ahold of the racing geeks and I bet they would come to a late April, early May event?

Anyone want some contact info? I will help get the ball rolling but I don't have the time or interest to make it happen.

Thats a great Idea Eric and something Ive thought about for dirt bike events.
I would love to talk with you more about it. heading out for a Whistlen jacks
prime rib and of course a killer night ride on the trusty KTM...Ill contact you tomorrow.

I think a true cross country race would be a riot. A trail race... no.. BUT that's me.

I was not suggesting that the XC race would only have to be a race on trails only and nothing else. As everyone that knows the general snoqualmie/cle elum area of terrian , it would be very difficult to have a zero trail section at all to get to from here to there regardless how hardcore of a rider you are. I don't like to ride the trail anymore than the next guy but you do have to in some sections. Vertical cliff faces and thick underbrush or even a creek ravine will not allow access without bypassing to the road. Even in offroad desert races I raced in the past, there was a small limited road/trail sections that you would have to ride on as part of the course.

It would be great though, if a event like this could take place. I would think if promoted right, it could do well.

P.P.
