I was just wondering if anyone else out there has a 174" on a Polaris. Or am I the only one? :D Anyways, its not really my topic headline, but what would you guys pay for a real nice '05 900 RMK 174" with some really tasteful mods? Remember, it might just be one of a kind. Oh, and please don't hurt my feelings with prices, I know not everyone likes 900's. So if someone wants to say $4500 or less, please don't post, cause it might hurt my feelers.

$5500

5500 is all i would pay unless u put a different motor in it because the polaris 900s sucked! Im a polaris guy but would not want one. Now put a union bay 1150 in it and at least 7000!!!

Please do enlighten all us uneducated 900 owners as to why you believe the 900 engine "sucks". My '06 900 currently has about 3000 miles on it and has never had any engine trouble. Always been a bullet-proof, very strong runner. As reliable as any other sled I've owned. It's never had a tow strap attached to the front end, only to the back when it's towing Doos.

I don't think it's the motor that sucks. It's the way it's attached to the bulkhead and the way it's wired. Just because you hear of a lot of these sleds having problems and wont run, doesn't mean it's because of the motor. Most are electrical issues. Cranks........ Yeah, they've had a few break, but any more than other models to call it a piece of junk? Look at all the problems they are having with the new Dragons, for the price people pay for new sleds now days there should be several class action lawsuits out to get these guys to pony up and produce something worth 10-14 grand and might last 1000 miles. I'd bet for every 1 sled you hear about that has problems, there are 5 out there running like a champ.

Maybe list out the "tasteful mods" you've put on. I don't think a 900 with the same mods as the rest, other than a 174, will bring much more money than what the rest are selling for, which unfortunately seems to be around $4k to $5500. Good job keeping one of those from becoming another "statistic":beer;.

HV I'm with you. One of the best sleds I have ever owned. My riding group has all brands, including 3 900's. The only sleds to break down to date are the big Cats (blown engines). Mine is nicknamed the "tow truck".

A 162" Camo on mine and I love it. There was no 174" when I did my track swap.

x3, I've heard of more engine failures on the 800's than the 900's. I've owned 3 and couldn't complain about either one.

Back to the 174 question? There is a guy that goes by the name of 440dart that is running one on his 08 D7 and a few people in my home town that are running them on ski-doo's and all I can say is holy cow are they long.

174 changed the sled dramaticly i think it was a combo of better track design and length i rode the stock polaris 163 for a year it dont come close to the 74, i bet you love the 174

Oh and do I ever love the 174". It is a menice I tell you, a f***ing menice! I couldn't imagine what a turbo would do with that track.

I'm sure I have missed something, but there's quit a list for you guys. I have run right next to '06's with the SLP complete performance packages, back when I had my 166". And one when I had the 174" and the stock pipe installed. The 3.0" pitch drivers reduced the stock gear ratio to an equivalent of 2.21. This helped as much as piping it and it really runs hard now. Thanx for the interest.
