Anyone get their Float 30 yet?

Thanks SnowBigDeal. I got mine and I'm waiting on the other three for my brothers.

I know it was probably tough on you guys because you were waiting on the manfacturer the whole time. But you guys are good.

I noticed the airbag is yellow. BCA must have gotten a deal on yellow, weren't they orange at one time? There is plenty of room in this pack unless you need to put a sleeping bag in it. Also, I know that we are supposed to test fire the bag, but I can't until I check with a scuba shop to see if they can refill. Is this just a safety precaution, or does the first fire do something?

Any chance that one of you that have received your pak can post pictures of it? Would like to see compartment pictures to see if it has enough room for what I carry, which is too much, but you never know when you may need it!
Also does it have a specific locations for shovel and probe?
Thanks

The test fire is only a safety precaution to ensure the pack works to your understanding and to make you familiar with the pack. It does not do anything *special* to the pack.

Probably next year. I have recently been set up as a dealer for BCA gear. All are spoken for on this shipment. May have been oversold also.

Ya, all packs this year have already been sold by BCA and yes, they did oversell.
We *may* have extras at the end of this season for those who haven't pre-ordered the packs. We still have more packs on order than we have pre-sold, but we are not taking any more pre-orders until we know for sure we will have extra packs.

If I get anyone interested in a pack, I will send them your way....till next year. ;) Main goal is to have everybody safe out there.....

I'll try and get pics tonight. I wouldn't have ordered them except that I got to try them on and test fire a bag while at the Denver Snow Show.

There are two sleeves for your probe and shovel handle on each side. The shovel blade fits in the front pocket and is very easily accessible.

I just moved all my stuff from an HMK pack and the BCA Avy pack has more room than the HMK.

Thanks for the details!

What's the setup for the hydration line/pack look like? I heard it wasn't going to be the same as the demo unit I saw at the snow show.

Test fire complete....son thought it was pretty cool.

how does the bag it self look as far as the material being high quality. like the abs is made out of 3m cordura. i remember mike duffy saying that just the abs pack would cost about 300 with the airbag part.

Just got mine in today. Thank you Cade and Brian at Snow Big!!

Overall looks like a good pack. Tons of room, glad the designer listened and put the pockets on the belt (for camera, spot, etc), also changed from the stamped steel buckle to a nice anodized aluminum one (the steel just looked cheap).

There is a ton of room in the pack, but of course it is a 30L pack, so this goes without saying. The avy bag material looks like a Cordura material, but not sure exactly.

Goood to see the packs coming out now.

I had a friend waiting on a pack, and was super worried about riding this last trip without it, it woulda sucked if the"unmentionable" happened while WAITING FOR A PACK...

Take care.

BCA Float30 packs

Thanks to you all for your great comments about the Float30 packs. They are shipping both in the US and Canada, but still in 'limited quantities'. We are very pleased with the final product and look forward to more feedback.
Keep safe out there; take an avi course, wear a Tracker, carry a shovel and probe and know how to use it. Check out our education info on www.backcountryaccess.com. Searching, shoveling and probing techniques that will help you. Follow our blog for more info on all our products.

Got my pack a few days ago from TNA gear. The pack is well designed and the construction is stout. Weighs 9#'s and airbag components look to weight 3 or 4 pounds, so the pack itself is heavy duty. Harness and back padding are top notch and back pad/stiffner is a piece of stiff plastic that gives the pack a stiff form. Conforms to the back and feels comfortable to wear. Nice pocket layout with 4 small ones for personal stuff. Two larger ones in back and two camera/GPS/Radio sized pockets on the belt within reach. Zippers are medium duty and operate real smooth. Big shovel pouch with a spot for handle and still room to stuff a bunch of gloves in around everything. Main compartment doesn't seem large until you start loading it up and it starts expanding at the bottom. At 30 usable litres it's not an over-night bag but plenty big for those of us that carry a lot of day gear. Compression straps suck everything up when less full. You do have to un-doo them to get in the compartments. Nice long pouches on the side to quickly stow a shovel handle and probe. Handy quick release buckle that works great on the pouches. Air bag hardware doesn't take up much space and is under a padded panel to keep it seperate and protected. Trigger handle is in a zippered pocket on the right shoulder.

Dissapointing they didn't factor in a hydration system. Guess not a big priority on a winter pack, but I always carry this setup. Looks like a spot right where the left sholder strap comes out. A 1" hole is cut in the plastic back sheet there, for the shoulder strap webbing to come through and anchor inside. A hose could be fished through to come out in between and above the shoulder straps. Now just need to cut a hole in a brand new pack  Not a stress area and below the airbag so punch a hole with a 3/8" plug cutter drill bit and hit it with a flame I guess? Be nice to put a grommet but don't of any you can install from one side?

Holds a lot of gear!
