Anyone Found DET Limits With 100% AV/100LL ???

Ok, I had a stupid moment today. Two days ago I adjusted the boost to 6-7 lbs just to try, and when I readjusted it, I must have not put the controller in the original position.

This morning I did three short 15 second pulls, and on the last one I noticed the boost gauge pegged at 15 lbs. Oops! Av gas baby!

At 13lbs it pulls really well. It does have a bit of bottom end lag but I think that is pretty normal. So with a stock 700 and our turboed 700 sitting at a start line the stock will pull away from us until we spool and then we catch it and then blow by it. Where we really notice the difference is in the steep and deep, all the stock or slightly modified sleds have to turn out where this turboed machine just keeps pulling.

Thanks

How well did your 700 pull at 13lbs?. I have the same sled and silber kit, but blew my boots out of the air box at 9 lbs. I just ordered the updated o-ring air box. But at 9 lbs it was a huge benefit over stock!

Found out that 13-14 pounds is where it will start to DET @ 1500' with straight avgas. I was running it in some cold weather and it was making more boost than it usually does so that's how it happened.

My boost knob is all the way down so I guess I just can't run it in below zero temps unless I get the low PSI wastegate. Just did it once and that was enough for me to park it. Usually runs at 10-11.

Unless something else was wrong with my wastegate for it to do that. Anyone else have this happen where it makes more boost without changing anything but the air temp?

yeah when i had crappy line running to wastegate that bled off pressure like there was no line run to it at all

How long did it take till the detonation started?

Did it right away after the sled was warmed up and when on full throttle. Not even like the intake temps had a chance to heat up. I could hear the knock the instant it happened and let off. Never tripped the light on the sled though.
It did it one more time so I stayed away from enough throttle to keep it under 10 lbs to get it home. I'm gonna go through all the lines and make sure there's no ice in them or in the wastegate actuator. Seems weird that it made 3-4 lbs more boost than normal all the sudden.

Found out what was going on. My blow off valve had gotten wet and was frozen. The higher boost must have been happening when letting off the throttle. Might not have been DET I was hearing. But what would it be? Probably would have warmed up and cured itself if I had just run it long enough.
