Anyone else get this BS getting onto the forums??

It obviously DOES have something to do with the changes... The confusing thing is that we haven't actually changed / installed anything new in quite a while. We added the social-group changes about a week ago, but that didn't change anything in the page-loads, or add any javascript. We did make some changes to the firewall rules the other day.. It's possible somewhere here did something, but I can't imagine what.

I'm NOT able to duplicate this.. so I'd be interested in more details about what's going on. Has anyone contacted their anti-spyware company to see WHY it's flagging the site???

If you are having this problem:

1) What OS are you running?

Vista

2) What browser do you use? (Name and version)

fire fox

3) What anti-virus / anti-spyware software do you use (and the version)

AVG
I'll look into this.

Thanx never had a problem ever before..... It is an ad for spyware removal that says computer is infected.... click to cose and it mimic's a scan... probably downloads crap if you keep following along.... I alt f4'd it all but it still wanted to run the program... Seen it on work computers before... never had the issue on my own pc before....

whatever you do dont click on it i know a few peps that have & its will be a bioch to get ride of its made by the retards that sell the antivirious.:face-icon-small-fro

The problem was with the server that hosts the main www.snowest .com domain (the main Harris magazine web-site for snowest). The forums, as far as I can tell, were not affected by this.

The folks at Harris are cleaning things up now.

Looks like it has been figured out, but I'll post this for you guys anyway. And I see now that I may be wrong about it being your computers... the hosting site looks to be the cause.

Anyways, here it is, as I posted on the other thread:

"I used to have this problem. It would come up randomly I think. I'm 90% sure it is your computer infected.

Our computer had the whole HD wiped, and now it never happens anymore. Also, I had an add clicker on the comp somewhere. I could hear that internet explorer "loading noise" like maybe 20 times in an hour. But I don't use internet explorer... so it was one of those auto add clickers running in the background. Never could find anything with virus scanners, and never did have it cause a problem. It was always just there.

But a word of advice, when you get redirected to that fake anti virus scan... do not download anything and do not simply close it by pressing the little x in the top right. If it's the same one I was getting it will have a message pop up saying "Are you sure you want to leave this website? Press ok to navigate away from this page or press cancel to stay on this page" If you do in fact press ok, I think it gives the site the go ahead to download stuff onto your computer. So the only way to safely get off the page is by pressing ctrl alt delete. Then under applications, select the internet page and press end task."
