anyone else feel guilty when they call in sick?

I feel horriblle and i even work for my self. I took off two weeks over the holidays of then i go back to work for a day and feeling sick so i go the doctor and i have pneumonia so another week off. Feels like im worthless

Yupp, Mostly because stuff is so screwd up when I get back. I worked for a company for over 10 years & never took a sickday. Always showed up & then went home. Now I think about it & it is better to take the sickday over getting everyone else sick & getting yourself better. I would rather deal with my guys calling in than dragging azz & not getting anything done.

Nah, I usually go riding so that makes me feel better!;)

Seriously, though! I don't call in sick! He doesn't pay sick days, so I come to work! He always asks why I don't stay home and I flat out tell him that you don't pay sick days, so staying home doesn't pay the bills! I get a ton of work done when I am sick, because he doesn't come near me! Pretty cool!

i don't feel guilty because the biatch i work with can deal with the issues & fix her own problems for a change. yeah it sucks when i get back & everything is f'd up. the part that pizzes me off the most is when the biatch i work with treats me like shiat the next day when i get back. the last time she even made a comment to a fellow co worker & friend about me "suposedly" being sick. F her!:mad::mad:............... wow, i need a new job......

sorry for the rant, i'm off the soap box now....

I only call in if I am really really sick. They pay sick days here and we have unlimited sick days but after 3 days you need a doctors notice. Some people take advantage of it which will just ruin it for everyone sooner or later.

OO, Is this the same guy that was gonna call in sick or that someone died or is dying to come take a trip out West bout the same time last year;)

Just book the flight already:D

used to have "sick" days (40 hours/year, they didn't carry over)...haven't taken one in 2.5 years, although I should have a couple of days (puking at the office isn't much fun). I would usually get HR to let me take them as vacation over the Christmas season so I could keep my actual vacation built up.

Since Jan 1 they have now changed to "personal" days, so basically another week of vacation, but it doesn't carry over.

I feel bad about taking time off, but it's just cause my projects don't move forward if I do (nothing gets screwed up, just nothing happens). People end up waiting on me for stuff, and that makes them look bad too. However, sometimes a guy needs a good break...two weeks over Christmas this year was just right for me...will take another little break in March, then that will be it till hunting season next fall.

oh, when I take time off, 99% of the time I'm available by cell phone, so questions can get answered...doesn't really bother me to get a call when on vacation either.

No i worked for a company for 20 years & never took a sick day. i always showed up and my boss sent me home right away he think it is better to send me home so he don't get sick the next day i go back and he tells me to go home and don't come back until I'm better he even gets mad because he hates to git sick

The only time I call in sick is if I am in the hospital........no work no pay....no pay no snowmobile parts....no snowmobile parts ........aint nobody gona be happy very soon. Dino

I used to but my work gives me 3 sick days and then trashes them if not used. So I use them, for sledding, as I have only "really" used 5 sick days since 1985. 3 of them were when I had surgery to reconstruct my sinus cavity after it got crushed by a garage door spring.

OUCH!

I only take off if it's serious. I myself have had Pneumonia 5 times and finally got a shot for it. But I have to be pretty much physically inempt to not go in. Still feel guilty sometimes but usually Crown Royal will rub that out. :)

I don't feel guilty because I use the reasoning that if I'm not feeling well enough to be semi productive, but go to work just to be there I take the day with the reasoning that I'll be more efficient and get more work done that I would have if I had gone to work and not gotten better.

One of my pet peeves is when individuals come into work when they are sniffling, sneezing, coughing, and rubbing their snot all over everything they touch. Stay home so you don't get everyone else sick and miserable.
