Anyone else fed up with word filtering?

First of all, this is not meant to stir the pot. I understand that this is a private forum and if we don't like it we can leave. The problem with that is this site thrives on traffic. If people leave, traffic dwindles, add money drops, you get my point.

I understand why some of the basic word filters are in place, there are some words that shouldn't be on a forum open to people under 18 (even though I guarantee you that they hear them on a day to day basis). Its just common sense.

But, as always, a few seem to ruin it for all.

I freely admit that I am one of those people. A few years back I was standing in a dealership talking to a relation of mine, after a few minutes of conversation his son said "You sure use the 'F' word a lot."

I replied right back to him "I sure as F____ do, don't I?"

Now... wordfiltering out all the different variations of that word that are used online is just retarded. Not only is it annoying, it makes many posts complete jibberish and almost impossible to decifer.

What I propose is that we, as the forum populace, start to police ourselves and try to prove to the Administrators of this forum that they don't need to tightening up the word filters.

Another thing that I propose is that the Administrators take a step back from the God button and think back to the way this forum was not even two years gone. How much word filtering was going on? How many complaints were you receiving? How many people were banned? What actions were taking to remedy this?

Why is it that since the forum changover the Administrators have taken it upon themselves to make this a "better world," so to speak. The things we were rallying against in the election seem to be running rampant here. The constant censoring of our posts, even if by a passive means such as word filtering. The deleting, or unintentional moving, of threads that really only had a small group that were polarized so far to cause so much trouble.

I put forth an offer to the Administrators; Loosen the noose a bit, give us some leeway and see what happens. If in a month things aren't better and the complaints aren't less, tighten things back up. But please, get rid of a few of the moronic word filters.

And just a bit of a disclaimer, this is just the ramblings of a person that is getting annoyed with the stupid things that are gong on around here. It seems to me that the Administrators want the traffic to dwindle.

Take it for what it is...

I agree most of the stuff that is filtered was allowed on the old forum. Sad part is i agree with you when you say that it seems they are trying to cut down on Traffic.

That guy is a tool ^^^^^^^^ its that sorta stuff that is what is wrong with this site....

The word filtering is one deal.
Some threads get by with the f word within pictures and are not deleted.
That is the part I don't understand

Yeap, there's always ways around them. The "f.ug" thing goes a bit too far though. Filters out words that includes those three letters, like "ref.ugee", etc.

"F.elching"... why is that word filtered? I doubt half the people here even know what it is. Yet there are other words that aren't filtered and probably should be. I could make a list... lol

Also, if the idea is to drive people away they're not doing a very good job. The page needs annoying music that won't stop, as well as a background that makes anything difficult to read. Seizure-inducing animations are a big bonus. Excessive use of the <blink> and <marquee> tags helps too. Take a look at ...

Better click on a girlie site to re-gain focus... hehehe

You said it all in one portion of the first paragraph, "if we don't like it we can leave"!
and did you bother reading the rest of it? Think about what would happen to this place if people started leaving in droves. Think about how different it is now that people that used to be on the old 4m decided they didn't want to be on the new 4m.
