Anyone been to the Waikiki Beach area of Honolulu?

Son is getting married in August and my wife and I need a place to stay for the festivities. Anybody got suggestions or recommendations?

I stayed at the Embassy Suites for about a month last year. Nice hotel with great rooms. Parking sucks because there is no place to park besides the hotel lot. Valet only at $25 a day. It is nice to just drive up and walk away. The hotel is real close to the beach, you just walk through the hotel across the street and you are there. Breakfast is included with your room. This is a real breakfast with all kinds of different foods, including a omelette bar. I would stay there again.

Dang Sldgy stay at the Hale Koa, It's an Armed Forces recreation Center there, 4 star hotel I am sure you woluld have a grand ol time! it is right on the beach and super nice! I'm sure you would have some great conversations drinking Mai Tai's at the bar

Wife and I stayed here a few years back. Beach is right there, but its Waikiki so dont expect too much in terms of beaches except for lots of tourists.

The hotel has a really cool aquarium and a decent breakfast and dinner buffet. We got some package where we bought 5 or 6 nights and got another free, as well as getting food credits for either the breakfast buffet for free or half price for the dinner.

My bro and his wife went just before Xmas and said he wouldn't do Waikiki again. Said he felt like he was in Hong Kong. He's going to do Maui next time.

My wife and I got married on Kauai, and then went to Oahu (Waikiki) for a week.... I could agree with ur bud more Beels.... Oahu is over rated and over run with all the vacationers from Asia.... We will never go back to Oahu, when we go back to Hawaii, it will only be to Kauai...

To answer your question sldgy, Outrigger is a pretty good chain that I would recommend looking into..... Have fun....

Also try t Ilikai, decent rooms and condos available. Since you have no choice on going toOaho. If given a choice, avoid it at all costs! Maui is nice, Big Isle is fantastic, Kauai is nice and quiet but I ran out of things to do in just a few days but many love it.

i agree as well. oahu is just a big concrete city full of asians who think they own the place & are rude as h*ll! i will never go back to oahu. we stayed at an outrigger but the place was closing the week after we left & they were turning them into timeshares. the place was okay but not too many people cared because they were out of a job the next week but we had good rooms & good food.

mcdonalds was just down the block too...
