Anyone been to McCall Recently?

Part of our crew is over there right now. The text from today that I got a couple hours ago was, "amazing"

Just got back

We were there for five days and just got home Sunday it was amazing. There was lots of untouched snow and only places that were all tracked up was wings bowl and the big hills everyone goes to. If you like to boondock there is a ton of untouched snow. You will love it have fun.

Compared to WA the snow is really great even on thier bad scale! The moisture content is so much lower than the Cascade Crud so it doesnt "set up" in a few days. Yes even when the daytime temps are 34-36 and sunny.

It is a great place to go and there is so much ridable areas that it thins out the crowds real well. When we were up there last year the only place we ran into others was at trail intersections, parking lot, and of course Wongs bowl.

The Pancake house http://www.mccallpancakehouse.com/ is the place to eat and the owner there has trail maps and usually has the grooming report and avy reports also. He is a great person. Very snowmobiler friendly and the food is great for a very reasonable price. I would stay clear of the old wanna be upscale steakhouse..food is hit and miss and service was terrible> I cant recall the name but it has a bar that is OK with all sorts of memorabilia hanging fron the ceiling!

Dont forget there is some real great riding outside of the McCall central area just a few minutes out of town towards the new(defunct) ski area.

Two great ideas if the skys are clear...One: get to the parking lot early and head up right when the sunrise is taking place. Another for a break in the action is ride to Bergsdorf hot springs(I amy have the name spelled wrong) for 5.00 they have changing rooms and a towel. Bring your own food and beverages. It is a old town from like the 1800's. http://www.idahohotsprings.com/destinations/burgdorf/ plenty of areas to play in along the ride in. Have scratchers..the road in is long and straight!(groomed of course) McCall has some of the best grooming I have seen anywhere in the Western US hands down.

Have a great time..I am jeaolus!

Have fun guys, wish I could go.
