Anyone added intake mods to the 08 M1000 reflash?

When my sled was reflashed I was told I better not add anything other than a can, because it would be too lean. I would like to add a timbersled or bdx, just for the fact of taking off several pounds. I ride from 7-11,000 feet.

I had the flash done on mine. I am running a can, timbersled intake and y pipe. It is real lean on the top end. But mine was real fat in the mid. They told me that it would be lean in both the mid and the top. You should get an 02 sensor or egts to keep an eye on it.

I am going through it right now on a buddies sled. He took his sled in for some work the end of last year and when the dealer had it they put the '09 update on it. He didn't know until he picked it up. Well, now it runs ok but not great now. It's an '08-M1000 with Bikeman can and Timbersled intake. That's it! We are stripping things one at a time trying to get it to run right. We are going to try the stock can on the next ride (hope like hell he doesn't have to put the 50lb stocker back on) and than the stock intake if that doesn't work. Seems like he is going backwards here, but we have to get to where it works for him. Good luck on your decision.

Are you saying you shouldnt get the re-flash if you have mods. I have full SLP set-up on my 08'm1000 and brought it in that way when they did the re-flash and they didnt say anything about the re-flash not being compatable with after market stuff. Should I be worried? I just sold this sled to my brother-in-law:eek:

If you are modded you will need new settings for your fuel controller. The fuel map on the update is quite a bit different than the stock 08 fuel map.

My sled (08) has an SLP single, RKTek head, and BDX air intake.

My current numbers on the BD box are as follows:

3000 00,00,00
5000 -03,-02,00
6500 03,04,00
7200 00,07,00
7500 00,06,15
7800 00,09,23

These numbers are still a work in progress. They show safe EGT's in my sled, and run pretty crisp, but use them at your own risk.

Those numbers are pretty damn close to mine as well. I have the same setup except the RKtek head. 23 on the hi for 7800 is perfect. 24 was too rich and 22 too lean. I'm just working on 6500 now; mine is leaner there than yours but I have to richen it up. I got the feeling I'm gonna be pretty close to yours.
On the A/F guage im 13.3-13.5 in the mid except at 6000rpms I'm running 14.1. WOT I'm at 12.4-12.6 and holding. I'm just in the process to getting rid of the ACEL settings; Seems like they make the sled run lean when decelerating. Also I was reading advanced instructions on the BD box last night and boondocker says this can happen with the ACEL settings in use.
