Belts systems are about 99% efficient
There's not much of a difference but the belt drives are more efficient. I'm assuming someone didn't know how to properly install their belt drive system

fi the chaincase was 96 percent efficient, then you would be eating 6 horsepower every second in a 150 horsepower engine.
which is a LOT of heat.
i've felt some chaincases that were warm, but if it were truly only 96 percent effiient, the chain case would melt in half after about 20 seconds of WFO.
truth is the belt drive is just as heavy, much more finicky, and a huge pita to have under the belly pan.
