Anybody else lost a zipper on a BCA bag when firing?

Bca said this is the first they've ever seen, but curious to hear if that's the case.

Popped a float 18, zipper head was at the bottom of it's travel, where it belongs, and popping the bag blew out the zipper head.

If it were higher up I could understand it, but where it was... this is just so odd.

Called them & heard the "well... not sure if we can fix it" as if it then becomes MY problem? I just laughed and blew it off, I know I'll get a new bag or zipper by the time it's done... you can see it was where it should have been when it popped off, it pulled the teeth from one side with it.

btw, got tons of other BCA stuff, shovels, beacons, probes, saws.... always happy with them, just thought this was odd, and after the goofy answer the guy gave me, I wondered if this was more common than he let on (I've never heard anyone mention this before either)

Nope. I've popped my 18 2x and 36 once, all survived.

If you're in the PRB. bring it by - they took care of me well.

Accidentally lit off my 36 2 weeks ago - hooked the old-style trigger. What the he11 is that noise?

Oh.

Went in - wanted to get the cylinder refilled & two updated triggers.

Left with a new 18 bag, as one of my belt pockets had been sewn on upside down, a NEW cylinder for my 36 - they found a leak, which surprised me, it was fully charged before it went off, and certainly filled the bag. They just swapped it out for the latest and greatest cylinder. They also provided two of the pull-trigger-updater thingies - plastic bits that clamp onto the trigger, making it conical - it won't hook on seatbelts or throttle levers or ski poles anymore, but plenty of grip if you grab it.

Bear in mind, my 18 is 2 seasons old, has seen PLENTY of use - absolutely did not feel like they needed to exchange it. Had I noticed before I'd used it? Sure, fine. I'd used it for a season before I even noticed, then blew off doing anything about it for another 10 months.

Total cost = $0.

I like BCA.

Oh yeah.. they're usually pretty darn good about stuff... this guys response was just a bit odd.

Gave the pack to a buddy who works in the republic, so we'll see soon how they deal with it, I'm sure they'll just swap it out. I just wondered if this was more common than I was thinking... it was such an odd thing to happen.

On my Float Throttle 22, I had a zipper puller string come off the main storage compartment on about my 2nd ride out. The yellow end slipped off and there is probably no way to get that back in on the mountain.

I cursed it as I through it in the zipper pouch and put a zip tie on the zipper.

Not sure how to replace that thing. They look like a one-time install.

I'll probably get a bottle of gorilla glue, a needle and see if I get get it back in there.
It worked on my last backpack. That was a Camelback hellion. Great sledding back pack. It's got GREAT zipper pull holders.

BCA has a 3 year warranty so I can't imagine they wouldn't just fix or replace it.

I bought two Float 22's earlier this year because they were out of the Throttles. When the bags came in, my son didn't like the color of his so I called BCA to swap it out. I happened to mention to the guy that I was dissappointed that they were out of Throttles and he said they had just got some back from a dealer in Canada and did I want to swap both of mine out for them? I was very appreciative! I think I like this company!

btw, I accidentally triggered mine while screwing the bottle onto the trigger. Man what a surprise! Those things fill FAST! Don't tug at all on the thing while you are tightening it! It was very easy to repack.

I like mine. It's VERY basic. No external pockets.
Hoping they refine it again.
Hoping to see other color options on the bag itself.

If you ever need a refill, let me know I can do that...I have the o-rings and use Nitrogen.

Kaleb, my guess is user error........cause I've inflated them 100's of times and never had an issue :face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-ton

That was my first assumption, and honestly, if YOU can figure it out... you'd think I'd be fine!:tongue:

Seeing that it was way at the bottom where it should be I just couldn't figure out why this would have happened.

Haven't heard back from them yet... but Cullen brought the bag down, for all I know he might not have even dropped it off yet!

Hey, I was struggling with the same, google led me here, so I type in my solution for future generations - you can use two "YKK Quickfree" zippers facing each other to fix your backpack. Those are easier to be sourced than the original "YKK Quickburst" which seems not to be sold in retail.
