Anybody else have chickens?

No chickens here. Had a duck lay eggs in our planter and after she sat on them for 3 weeks some Son of a Bitchen raccoon has been feasting on them. She looked so sad yesterday just staring at the egg shells. Gave her some bread and tried to make her go to therapy but no luck.:face-icon-small-sad She's outta here for good now.

Shoulda just ate em myself. LOL

I would get even with that little b**ch coon if it was me, after lookin forward to seeing the eggs hatch and then to have that oh ya it's days would be numbered haha :D

Coon will most likely devour the last two eggs tonight. Wish I had me game camera here. Thinking Kipper Snack and a trap may be his last meal after that.

What time do we show for Omelette's Adam?????:high5:

Put some hot peppers out or inject the eggs with some vodka, heck of a hangover. (Just and Idea, they can be a pain and health hazards)

Second thought don't he will mess on the porch.

We, or should I say my boy, has 10 and getting another 6. The eggs are great and it is the only way he earns any money, no take care of chickens no get any money.

I've ridden with some....

lol.

all growing up we had chickens. i had to take care of them. pain in the arse in the winter when the water freezes. and they die and you have to bury them. and then there was the time we had 2 roosters given to us...one person would have to beat the suckers back with a 2X4 while the other changed water/collected eggs/fed them.

i don't think i'll be getting chickens anytime soon.

We had 6 hens, 2 horses, 1 pig, a dog and a goat before we moved to florida. Gave the goat away, had a bbq right before we left...now we have two horses and a dog. We had all the fresh eggs we could eat though....and ours were "free range" chickens...so no spiders. And no...ours didn't have "large talons"...lol!

i bought an obnoxious rooster last year and snuck it in my bro-in-laws yard at night and that manificent bird crowed every 15 minutes starting at 4:00am. best $15 i've ever spent.

This is the first thing I thought of Nic when I read the title. LOL

I've been trying to talk my wife into getting 3 or 4 laying hens.

We have 5 acres, a butt load of grasshoppers and auto sprinklers to keep their turds at bay in the yard...I can't see why there is a hangup.

I've heard that you can use a Pavlovian approach to them...and ring a bell when you feed them. Eventually, you ring that bell and they all go back in the coop at the sound.

Working on a coop right now. Neighbor has several chickens. Been getting half dozen eggs a week. Best tasting eggs in the world. Best part is they don't get any fresher than that.
Will be buying one annoying rooster just to piss of the neighbor. Can't wait!!!!

Oh yeah and any coon in my yard whether it eating my eggs or not is dead. No coon is safe coon. Damn trash eating egg sucking varmints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
