Any reviews of the mpi supcharger from power surge spring order?

Sup charger

My apologies. I did find your review, but I was looking for one on how it rode and performed. All I could find on that one was install discussions. It's a lengthy thread, maybe I missed that part.

Christopher I think had an intercooler from the start which the base Yamaha kit does not. I think many like the turbo better. I am building a sled with a supercharger right now am interested to see how the supercharged sleds act and feel as well.

sup charg

i know it's not a fair comparison, but i've owned many pwc's over the years and currently have a seadoo 255, which i think now has evolved into an even larger motor. it's a sup charged 4 stoke, and the power, torque, throttle response, etc is incredible. not even a comparison to naturally aspirated motors. only down side is that she chuuuuuuuuugs gas. big time. which, isn't a real big deal anyway. it takes gogo juice to make big hp.

hoping for a similar result in this product. i'm on a doo etec right now, and i think i may need to pull the trig for next years power surge spring order assuming they offer it again.

Ya, as a free member you can only see about 25% of that thread.
There are LOADS of user-ride comments.

in short.

I ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE the supercharger.

Most riders think Turbos are a gift from God.
I rather strongly disagree.
I would take the supercharger every time over a turbo.

If there was a Supercharger kit done and tested I would be installing that on my new Viper and not a turbo.

Does anyone really install a SUPERCHARGER without the intercooler?

I love the low end power and sound of the nytro with a supercharger. Dies out a little on the top end like you'd expect with a sc. The low and mid are awesome though. For most guys around here a sc would be much better than a turbo.

Soft Hat,
Supercharger or Turbo? It depends what you like to do. I had a supercharged Nytro and RZR before my turbo nytro. I just recently got a Turbo MCX 270 SR Viper. I'm more of a turbo guy now, because of power. The sound of the SC was sweet but the power is not the same as the turbo. Climb with a turbo is sweet.

If you are making LONG HARD PULLS up steep slopes, then I would agree.
The Turbo shines there.

But for damn near all other riding, the Supercharger is the better solution for POWER ON DEMAND.

Can't speak for anyone else.
But 99% of the time I am in my sled, and I NOT pinned at WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. And for that 99% of the time, I am getting the FULL advantage of the Supercharger.

The only time I question having it is on a BIG pull on Mt. Jefferson or up in Revelstoke. But even then, if I wanted it, I suppose I could just dial up the boost. Been running 9.5, but could take it into the low teens if there was really a compelling reason.

I would agree with the on POWER ON DEMAND, but your more limited on a supercharger than a turbo. I had my supercharged nytro for 4 years. I ran it at 12 lbs on 110 octane. That's when 110 was sold locally for $5.75/ gal, now it almost $9.00/gal.

For big pulls a supercharger at the same boost level as a turbo is not the same. Also, its possible for a SC kit to adjust boost to altitude but much hard then a turbo. Most kits don't do it. More important is track speed. Supercharger don't produce the same amount of track speed as a turbo at same boost level. Turbos are 10 to 15 mph faster.

I ride mainly in the tree and don't have a problem with the lag from the turbo. It was difficult after coming off of a supercharger but after four rides I was good.

I don't mean to hijack a forum. I just wish I had ridden a turbo and supercharger sled before making a purchase. Is MPI making a supercharger for the viper? If so it was put on the back burner like their website. Come on Mac and Matt pay some 18 year on kid to update that thing.

So far as I know they are focused on the Turbo kits right now.
But I would guess there will be a supercharger kit surfacing for it in 2015.

Sup

Yap- I think I'm out over my skis on that one. I thought the ps program had option for viper of turbo or sup charger. Learning why I can't find any reviews. They don't make that product for the viper yet.

Interested to demo a turbo this year, but not all that jacked up about a fuel box. The cat can be reflashed and you're done.

I once had a bmp f8 kit with a Fuel box, man what a pain in the rump. Never ran right. Always tinkering. The most I ever liked that machine was the day I sold it for 20 cents on the dollar.

Can't really compare the cat 1100 turbo to the yamaha viper/nytro turbo. The cat is a factory turbo engine with big money in development and testing. Any add on turbo to a nytro or viper is solely aftermarket and like all aftermarket parts you usually get what you pay for! Fueling is really important in seem less turbo power, spend the money on a good fuel controller makes a huge difference!
