I started it in 87 and again in 2000 and finish 03. A lot can change in the 5 months to how ever long it takes you to be ready. I had first test date in nov 02 and didnt get it done till feb, because of weather and scheduling. Things to think about WEATHER MONEY and MONEY. Do a lot of home work if you plan to buy. You will find there a lot that you miss at first. A partner is a good way to start. And dogs got it RENT IT!!!!!!! I sold my first plane 2 years after I bought it. I still miss it. But not as much as I thought I would. I had a 1965 180 piper cherokee. And I bought half for 21k. Look around if you can find a partner or a club. It's better to have someone with some hrs too fly with. Good luck.
