how did those setters do on the grouse this year. I heard it was good season for many in your area.

I'm from Sioux Falls and grew up about 40 minutes west in a small town. What Ive seen and heard are birds are harder to find this year around this area. Go up by Woonsocket/Westington Springs area or Pierre and there are still more birds than you'll know what to do with. I hunted on some private land NW of Westington this weekend and limited out in 5 minutes. Flushed up 3 got 2 about 10 feet from the truck and got my 3rd 200 feet into the grass we were hunting. Talked to a friend from NE and his group of about 20 got 120 birds in 2 days in about 5 hours of hunting up by Pierre. Bring a dog.

We used to hunt around Plankinton .Will try it again. Nick

No birds in Plank area,....to many hailstorms last summer. Head north and west and you will run over your limit on the road before you get to a hunting spot.

I just went out last weekend and found plenty. The birds a real spooked this time of the year so you almost have to put the sneak on them. I was around the oldham area. Then down to Carthage. We limited out but it was tough. Of course we found more in private than in public.
Good luck.
