ANY one running a 174"x15"x2.5" on there 2005 900 rmks?

When setup well, the 900s can be animals. But, they can also be a headache if you get "a bad one"... They are the type of sled that you need to be willing to commit to, meaning, if you get one and mod it out, you're going to be stuck with it for a long time because resale on these things is in the tank.

I love my 166, it's performed above and beyond my expectations so far this year with no problems till the last ride (developed an electrical issue).

I can't say as I have heard of anyone putting a 174 on these things, most people think the 166 x 2.4 (longest OEM track option to date) is plenty.

If you are thinking seriously about picking one up, I would take a look at the stickies at the top of the forum, especially Mountainhorse's READ BEFORE YOU BUY thread... a lot of the common issues will be covered in there.

Good luck with your decision:beer;

I have an 05 RMK 900 151

Couldn't be happier. It has had the recalls and updates done and is performing very well for me. Because resale was in the tank due to the 'bad reputation', I got a smoking deal and am riding a much nicer sled than I could have gotten for the same $$.

As has been said, do the research, do the upgrades and ride it like you stole it.

I am a New 900 owner this year.

Very Solid Tunnel, For a few Xtra pounds you get Structure.
The (STOCK) Tin foil XP REV or even Later Dragon Tunnels don't have the Structure and will bend.

Mine works great. I continue to tune it.

Jason (SnoDmon) from Lewistown put a 174 on his 900, the thing ran like a top and would climb anywhere, but it was a freight train, trying to whip it around. The 166 is bad enough for boondocking, but the 174 is a whole other story! For point and shoot it is awesome, but as we all know nowadays its not so much about length as it is track speed, a 155" at 50mph track speed vs a 166" at 43mph are going to be pretty close to the same! Just my 2 cents!

i agree with every stated above...

i have a 166 track and i CAN go litterally everywhere...i still can boondock it very well, but i am also 255lbs (and look amzing might add ;)) but i dont see any need for a 174..save the cash from that and get some mods...

LOVE my 900....

and my wife has an 06 rmk 700 (the other dreaded sled model) and she has the 159 track on it..and i have taking that up everything i did with my 166...

either the 159/166 is perfect for a deep powder sled...i also rode with some 151 and was great as well..

good luck man..once its dialed in..and you learned some about the 900, you will love it as we all do ours...just have some troubleshooting patience ;)

Between buying my 900 and all the mods, I coulda had a Dragon! However, I am glad I am learning to ride a TANK so when I get a new 800 Pro RMK, I will look as good as Guido! :biggrin1:
