it is january 27, 2010 today and I have heard that some guys went last weekend and there is a ton of snow finally.. looking for validation to this before i make the drive. also any one know how woodland or soap stone is condition wise, and even preston from cub river on up
Cub river and that area is good with a lot of new snow last weekend. I'd avoid Tony still because it needs a lot of snow to cover the landmines and I doubt there is enough yet.
Went up cub river sunday and it was great about 3 feet of powder and about 5 to 6 feet total . You had to stay on the gas to keep from getting stuck was great . Well be heading up this weekend im sure .
There should be plenty up there now, we rode north of white pine saturday and it was ridiculously deep.
Very good base up high.
If it were me I would give it time to settle and stabilize.
Avy danger is high.
Zeb and I went up Monday and although there was a ton of fresh the base was lacking and we both hit some boulders. Zeb tore the front off his Apex again and I bent a rail on my apex. My take is this. Beaver Mtn shows a 58" Base and Snowbird shows 98". Both had a ton of fresh and Zeb and I had a few epic stucks with high boost 174s but still the base was really lacking in lots of areas.
Also, more slides than I have ever seen in my life. Pretty much every chute we went up to look at had broken to the dirt. At the end of the day I blew a belt like 300 yards from a med sized hill. Zeb came up to help me and while we were changing my belt that hill went likely just from us being in the vacinity of it. Crazy stuff.
