Any input on this track swap?

I have a 900RMK 159". My track is coming apart but I need to get another year or two before buying a new sled. I don't really enjoy the 900 anymore now that my wife has an 08 700 that rocks. I'm having a hard time finding a 159" for a decent price but there's quite a few 163". My question is if I get a 163" and put the 2.86 drivers on will that take up enough slack or would I have to get an offset axle or rail extensions, too. Also, are the 2.86 drivers larger in diameter or are there fewer teeth and would there be enough room on the 900 Rmk for larger diameter drivers.

If anyone's actually done this I would really appreciate any insight. Thanks.

I went 159 to 162 on a cat 900 with only a mountain machines axle and 9 inch rear wheels. I am as tight as I can get on my adjusters. Has worked great for 3 years now! Dont know about going to 163. Of course your suspension might be different and you will be ok with the 9 inch wheels taking up the extra track.

Did you check out tracksusa? New polaris 159 $419 ported $429. buy the time you buy new drivers and pay the shop to press them on (around $50) . then some kind of big wheel kit with off set axel. That freedom axel is $160 alone then the wheels. you could be upwards of $250 for a big wheel kit to get the longer track to fit. You might be better off going with a new one for tracksusa. just my .02

that's kinda what I was thinking. I was hoping that the drivers alone would take up enough of the slack because I didn't want to spend the cash for the offset axle and wheels. I just saw a lot more used 163" than 159" and didn't want to spend the $400+ when I'm only keeping the sled another year or two.

Thanks for the input.

16?

will a 16 wide fit in that 900? i have an 07 159 doo track ill sell for 225 + shipping from 56565

I wish that 16" wide track would fit. That's more like the price I was hoping to find. If it wasn't a mess to trim one down I'd do it. Thanks anyway.
