Any info on when new belt will be out?

Don't want to trade in blown belts for more POS #166's. I want to get the new belt. Anyone know when they will be in stock?

Do you mean the 417 300 166 drive belt ?

If so, What is the problem ?

The problem is that Doo went with a piss-poor calibration that doesn't provide enough side force to grip the -166. So instead of going to the trouble of adding a little weight and a progressive helix they are just going with a different belt that will cost more and probably only fix a handfull of the problems. Then those that have PROPERLY calibrated their clutching to make the 166 work AWESOME will be spanking the sleds that only throw on the new belt and those people will still complain that they are getting spanked. :):beer;

what about the deflection issue? the only way to properly set it is by machining the secondary once the belt wears in a bit. does properly calibrated clutch setup include machining the secondary to close more?

I think your wrong, I added the weight and changed the primary spring and did pull the cords at 500km. I am convinced that the 166 is too long or too narrow and we can't get it tight enough. The shorter Gates belt I'm trying has changed the sled feel completely. Way smoother (lost the over-reving) and still looks new.

I'm sure there are alignment issues with some sleds....that is up to the dealer to correct under warranty....a factory defect, it is not designed to be out of alignment...specs are specs. While they are at it they can correct the C-C on the sleds that are off. The XP that I have spent time on has proper deflection and the belt sits above the secondary with no changes. Deflection being a bit off will not ruin belts, at worst it makes for a slightly harsh engagement, but once in motion it makes zero difference in belt life.
As long as Doo does something to make it right, all is good....but the band-aid belt is a joke IMO, I hope there is more to the final fix than a different belt. The sled has great potential with correct clutching, one would think that Doo would WANT to do the minor changes necessary to make their sleds whoop-up, have happy customers and record sales next year (NOT belt sales!) .....at most the different belt will silence the complaints for a bit. :beer;

Quick question - went in to get a new belt (last one lasted 1000kms with lots of doubling) and when i asked for a belt for a 07 800 they were all out of the 166 and gave me this line 'all out of that one, new ones on order, BUT we have this belt that guys here are really liking' its last 3 numbers are 152. Did i get swindled or have guys used this belt and how did it perform?
not putting it on yet as it is a back up right now but would like to know
thanks

Heard today that the new belts are still a month away. At least in a large enough supply to take care of everyone.

we are still running the 253 on 1 and the 288 on the other sled with good luck..

I'm pretty happy with the 253 so far.
