Any guys out there have the clamshell enclosed trailers?

12' Floe Protektor

I am surprised no one has mentioned a Floe Protektor. I have not owned one but they look to be very versatile.

Glenn--have you considered this trailer?

My Triton 2 place is I think 1300# empty weight. Easy to turn around by hand in anything other than deep soft snow and in that case a sled will pull it around easily if you're up where you have to unhook to turn around.
I've purposely kept it light, no paneling or insulation inside. Sucks for hunting camp, but it's light. Got alot of miles on it, good trailer, but they're not cheap.
I got it used in a pkg deal w/ a sled, but I think they're $4k new.
Pulls very easily with a half ton.

Haven't done anything yet.

I would love a Triton like that but I think they are closer to $7k maybe?

I towed a Mirage 26 or 28' four place enclosed steel and the Ecoboost towed it like a champ. 100% happy with the towing power. Very diesel like. In fact I think it tows as good as an older stock diesel (like a 99 Cummins or 7.3 Powerstroke). Which it should as the torque is similar with more horsepower, far better tranny and lighter weight.

I am leaning more towards a 3 place enclosed V nose now. Just gotta find one.

where are you located? I have a brand new 2010 Rance 12' aluminum with 13" almn. wheels, just like the trition pictured above for $ 3500. I would highly recommend the ramp trailer over a tilt top. The tilt top is tough to load by yourself.

For me, I love my FLOE clamshell (Protector). Like many said, it has it's issues with ceiling height and sled work access, but it it light, strong, easy to pull and is just what i need to keep my sleds out of the weather, yet not be too large. Not a huge fan of hte ramp system, but you get used to it.

I took 2 sleds to the snow show to sell. Got a couple of calls about the sleds, but had 10 that wanted the trailer.

Got mine used with 2 02 800 RMK.s for $4500.:face-icon-small-ton

If anyone has any trailers for sale that are either 12' Clamshell or 12'-16' deck V nose (2-3 place) trailers, let me know. Having a tough time finding anything around here, but willing to travel.

Hands down the nicest I've used/seen (compared to many others) is the Floe Enclosed trailers... Heavy duty construction, quality materials, and they dont catch the wind as bad as some of the others..

Nice low profile and holds up well... Ask Amber hold.. she flipped one and it is still in use today (and looks good)

The gull wing design is easier to work with than the entire shell lifting.

Composite construction.

I pull an 18' Continental Cargo (14+4) with my 5.4 F150. I like that I can haul 3 full sized sleds easily. I'm 6'5" and can stand up in the trailer. It is tall enough to have storage up on the walls to keep things off the floor. There is room to work on a sled or something if needed. I had planned to insulate it and put a furnace in, but will likely wait until I need a 4 place then do it up. That flip nose that MH posted sure looks nice but pretty specialized, but that can be fine too.
