this is only to snowbyrd,
I never said what type of rider i was, but the single most important thing to master is if you see the guy in front of you do something, you can do it also. I get tired of hearing people say "I can't do that".
Well if I did it you can do it also.
o and fu
Sorry but if it was only for Snobyrd you should have PM'ed him...
NOW...
I see part of your point...first I will say that your first invite looked pretty polite and benign. The comments above in your later posts and quote need some serious re-evaluation. QUOTE: "but the single most important thing to master is if you see the guy in front of you do something, you can do it also".
As a former Navy Master Diver I made damn sure that no one did anything beyond the ability of the least experianced diver...a small mistake can cost you your life...I can see you someday having to explain to someones wife and kids why there Dad is all Fucqued up...because you were flapping your coat like a pigeon.......and he should have been able to do it because you could...crap if you did that to me or the two I ride with any one of us would have slapped your head so hard you would have thought you were in a non stop big iron climb!
Everyone has different abilities and physical limitations. Some things are easier for short riders and there are things that a bigger person can do better just the same.
This last Tuesday my riding partner was into jumping cliffs at Baker..he then wanted the rest of us to do the same or we were Puzzies...well I will tell you that he cant keep up with me during the course of the day but he shuts off the brain cells and does some "SICK" and yes sometimes stupid stuff.
Just because YOU can do something does not mean that someone else should be able to or will learn a frickin thing from it. You would be better off by riding within the ability of the least experianced person...not always fun...then little by little you will know who you want to go riding with on a more frequent basis. You need to learn and understand their abilities...wheras you want everyone to try and keep up with your abilities....hmmmmm...My wife thinks like you...she thinks that if someone else can do something she can do it also...she rides aggressively and I am tired of digging here out from the side of a way too vertical climb that none of us could have made let alone attempt..always trying to outdo everyone! She has the bumps and bruises to show for it also...along with a small wrist surgery. She wont be riding for the rest of the year due to that mentality.
NOW..on the other hand...I understand your points..I used a sick day Monday and Tuesday and the main person I ride with that does the "sick" stuff....rides so hard that he is wore out before we even get to half a tank of gas...then he wants us all to head down the mountain..he drove and he is big enough that you dont really want to argue much...wouldnt listen to you anyway. I hadnt even ate my lunch yet !..... I was just getting warmed up...he only knows how to ride hard..no clue how to pace himself and is not in good enough Cardio shape to maintain that level for a sustained period. It was depressing to leave before I was ready..but I went home with friends that didnt make a wrong move that got someone hurt because they were tired. I have learned that the best thing you can teach someone is how to read the terrain..learn that and you will be able to pick your own lines and will have a more enjoyable time.
A wise old martial arts instructor of mine in Japan once told me....you need to have better technique as there is always someone that will be stronger and better than you....you cant always do exactly like the stronger one does" You have to fight within your skill set not theirs.
Once again your invite wasnt that off key..just your follow up to snowbyrd....hang in there and ride safe..Take a second to see the beauty of the terrain that you are in...not just the fuel gauge.
I dont want to see you in Trauma One at Harborview!
