Any 2012 800 engine changes?

I know that the issues with any engine from any manufacturer become exaggerated on the forums. I have been thourouly reading through the pro forum and it seems like their are several mysterious bogs and such. I have heard that polaris is changing to bosch injectors next year, just wondering if that is assumed to fix the majority of the issues that have been noted? I'm on a boosted nytro ( I dont care what anyone says they arent tight tree compatible lol) now and need to add a 2 stroke tree sled to the mix next year and the pro seems to be the way to go. I've got no dealer support for any of the brands on the island besides skidoo and I aint goen that route lol.

Thanx in advance for any info!

No engine changes for next year from what I'm told from reliable sources.

Of course that would not keep Polaris from refining the platform come production time next season. Programing is very easy for Polaris to do on the ECU right up to the day you take delivery....

I'm sure that Polaris will be working to take care of any glitches as this platform goes thru the yearly evolution.

Why not just get the new boosted cat for your tree sled. They seem to think that the 570# platform is light and nimble. All kidding aside, the pro with boost is fun, and I haven't experienced any of the talked about bogs.

Though there may be no significant changes, that doesn't mean they won't do any tweaking to things for reliability, such as re-routing wires, better wire protection, swapping in more reliable components of the same type, etc. I'd have to think some of the glitches we found with the 2011's will have fixes applied for the 2012 line, especially things where Polaris issued service bulletins (like the oil line routing one). I'm sure some of that will contribute to increased reliability, not that things have been generally awful for 2011 anyway though.

sled-fiend: I hope you buy a Pro so I can see more of your avatar :face-icon-small-coo

FWIW, no bog here, sled rips as-is.

Sled, I would be willing to bet after doing some clutching on mine that a lot of the bog issues are from guys being to light on clutch weights....it is real easy to hit the rev limiter at both full throttle and 1/2 throttle if you are even 1 gram light on weight(mine will hit the limiter at both 1/2 and full throttle at 4000 ft with 64 Bellybusters everything else bone stock, yet at 4800 ft it will only hit the limiter if I unload the track on a good climb....)some have had bad injectors, but it sure isnt an epidemic like some think.....

On my sled light weights caused mid to WOT bog (with in 1 second). Also had bad injectors they caused low RMP stumble and WOT bog on long pulls (4 or 5 seconds).

I agree with AKSNOWRIDER

last night as I was cleaning clutches I had my sled on a track stand and as I gave it gas the sled would bog around 7500 to 7800 rpms, I am willing to bet most of the bog problems are from not enough weight in the primary and the computer can sense it will over rev and bogs to keep it within the limit.

I have over 1100 miles and this sled has never bogged on me once while riding it. I thought it was something some of you would like to know. Add weight til the bog goes away because it can sense the light load on the track and won't give the motor full power :D

Part true..

It will not be getting the crank and cases from the 800.... But it will be a 600 DC-CFI-2 injection system the same as the 800's with the pulsation dampers on the fuel rails and changed porting configurations compared to the DC-CFI-4 that was used in the RUSH for 2010/11 and different still from the CFI-4 used in the 2011 600 RMK's.

The bore and stroke on the 600 Remain the same as previous years 600's... 77.25mm x 64mm.
The 800's have a 70mm stroke. (85mm x 70mm)

The 130 HP number is a solid figure though.

There have been some 600's in recent history that DID share the 800's bottom end... that is/was the 2008 + IQ-Racers... with a relatively small bore of 73mm (bore x stroke = 73mm x 70mm) but with the same 70mm crank as the 800 CFI sleds (except for the greased PTO bearing on the Racer)

A more accurate statement might have been (I don't care what anyone says, I don't ride good enough to ride a Nytro in tight trees LOL) Been way to many good riders prove both the Apex and Nytro are extremely tight tree compatible if you have the skills to ride them.

Maybe you should re-read my statement, " I dont care what anyone says" that includes you:face-icon-small-win The fact is, for ME unless its deep I'm not jonesing to go ride my Nytro. The solution for ME is to have both sleds. Problem solved. Now go show everyone how good you are in the tress on your Nytro/Apex:wave:
