Antlers Lodge / Cooke City Riding Conditions

ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! YEAH!!!:face-icon-small-hap
Hello to all...hope everyone had a good summer, but it is time to ride again! As many of you may know, Cooke City is having a great start to our riding year! After a dismal end of season last year, I think we deserve it!
We typically do not start riding as early as we have, due to the many obstacles lying just under the snow in early season, but after getting dumped on and dumped on, we could not help ourselves and have been out a few times, yesterday being the most recent. Bill has been updating our website with snow conditions and some pictures, so check them out...for those of you who have not checked out Bill's riding report...we ride as much as possible, so you will not get (just) a weather report, or how much snow has fallen in town, but rather what it is like on the hill (good or bad) with some pics. We also just got our webcam up and running again so you can see how town looks (December 2nd has not looked like this in a LONG TIME)!

On another note, we are excited to let you know about some changes we have this year...first, in early spring we finished a new cabin (#7), which turned out great, so check it out on our website along with our other cabins and rooms. Also, we have a great NEW cook this year in the restaurant! He is a local and has an amazing reputation here in Cooke City and we think you will agree with the locals assessment of him.

We plan to have our great pizza, grill items (with some new improvements) AND the amazing specials Dave (our new cook) will be whipping up! Our breads and buns will all be fresh baked AND we will have some amazing fresh baked cinnamon rolls and sticky buns to get you rolling in the morning.

Bill and I would like to thank everyone for your continued support and are looking forward to seeing you all again this year!:face-icon-small-win

Here's to our old and new friends, and to a great year for all!!:beer;

Riding Conditions Update - 12/3

:face-icon-small-hap!!!!!
This little guy with the big grin on his face is the best way to sum up today's ride!! From what I could tell after reading the avalanche report, Cooke City was the BIG WINNER for the most snow fall out of this latest storm. They reported 17 inches of new snow and there was definately that and more!! It was difficult to tell what snow was actually the newest snow because it has been continually snowing and there is not really anyone here to track it up, but when Bill jumped off his sled, it was just short of his waist.

Today was one of those days when the throttle has to be pinned all the time and you can very easily get stuck just stopping if you don't make a couple of passes before you stop.

Thanks for all the messages and we appreciate the good reviews! AND...Bill is on his new E-Tech and so far, so good, he really likes it. He is still in the break-in process, so he has not changed a thing (we'll see how long that lasts, lol).

Bill updated our website and posted a couple of pictures for you to check out...

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!!:beer;:beer;:face-icon-small-coo:beer;:beer;

So Kay are there any thought on if the new RMK is better or do you guys still like the XPs?

Bill really likes the E-Tech so far, says the handling is great, more tippy (getting used to that, but he likes it). He is looking forward to getting it broken in so he can see its full potential. Rick is riding the new Polaris and from what I can tell, really likes it.

Weather/Conditions Update

Sorry about the long absence, but unfortunately Bill was pretty sick the entire month of December, but things are looking up! Thank you to everyone we saw in December and over New Years, it was great seeing all of you and catching up!

We went out riding today and were really surprised at the untouched snow we found, with New Years just behind us. We could use a good snow for sure, but conditions are not that bad. It was still a little cold today, but Bill and I had a great day with Cheeks and Zipper.

Bill is back and we will be going out again pretty regularly, so check out Bill's riding report for some pics and his long winded report...lol.

We hope to be seeing some of you in the near future!

Thanks...Kay:face-icon-small-blu

I hope to get back to you guys again soon. It's been 5 years since I was there.

I hear bill isn't on an E-tec anymore.... atleast that's what some flatlanders told me. Seams there is a rumor that he took off his yellow jacket and picked up a red one (so to speak atleast...) :face-icon-small-hap

But don't get me wrong everyone, there are alot of great people in cooke. Bear Claw bob's wife makes a hell of a breakfast and it's damn cheep too! :amen:

lol I think bill jumped ship!!! I'll bet Kay gets that new etec.....:face-icon-small-win

Thanks for the killer supper special. By far the best steak dinners (because I had to have it two nights in a row) I've had in a looooong time. The dessert is the best also.

The snow last Friday and Saturday was epic. 2' - 2 1/2' of fresh powder both days.

Kay or Bill can confirm but I'm pretty sure I seen a couple new pro's ripping around. :face-icon-small-coo

Pro R 155

So Kay are there any thought on if the new RMK is better or do you guys still like the XPs?

My plan was to ride my Everest the rest of the year and...MAYBE change brands next year. However...one day my Everest broke (for the first time ever!), the computer went out on it and by the second day Rick had not had a chance to fix it yet. In that time Bill had been in the process of buying a Pro R 155 (for our spare sled) and Rick says, just ride the 155 and I will have your sled ready by tomorrow. I was not excited about riding the new sled and looking like a retard all day:face-icon-small-blu, but hey! it was better than not getting out at all. BOY WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE! After an hour on the new sled, I knew I would never get back on my Everest again. I really loved the Everest (and all my skidoos before it), but there is no doubt that FOR ME the Pro R is easier to ride. It is tippy, but not to tippy and now I am hopeful that when I fully learn to ride it, I will be able to follow Bill and Rick through all the trees, side hills, etc. AND be able to do some of their wild moves at a moments notice! Also, I never thought I would ride a 155 instead of a 163, but although it will be at a slight disadvantage at high marking (which we never really spend much time doing), there won't really be any places they take their 163's that I cannot get my 155. Bill and I have traded sleds while out riding and I like the 163, but it definately takes more for me to ride it than the 155 does.

I asked Bill if he thought I would be at a great disadvantage riding the 155 instead of the 163 and he said...If you can't get that sled everywhere we get our 163's, it won't be the sleds fault:face-icon-small-dis! Thats Bill...he doesn't mince words.

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy response, but thats my experience and I can't wait to see what I can do next on that sled...my progress has been faster than I ever imagined it could be!

Hey thanks, glad you enjoyed the steak and the TRUELY EPIC riding conditions!

You are right, there are a couple of new Pro R's running around town and we did sell the E-tech (was not difficult to do...alot of demand and a good sled)!

We are having an awesome snow year so far and thank you for staying and eating with us!

Riding Conditions Update - 2/6

:cheer2:...is what we were all doing all day yesterday, riding in the unbelievable snow Mother Nature dropped on us!

We have had incredible snow all winter and then for about a week (until the night before last) we had some sunny days and were wishing for new snow. Our wish was granted and we got a ton of new snow and turned yesterday into one of the top days of this winter. The snow was pretty light and every track from the day before was LONG GONE. We also got an unexpected surprise...slight clearing and some sun here and there, so visibility was not that bad. We all came happy and exhausted:face-icon-small-ton

There is more snow in the forecast today, tonight and tomorrow so it will only get better!

Check out Bill's riding report and a couple of pics on our website;

http://www.cookecityantlerslodge.com/cooke_city_snow_conditions.htm

We hope that all of you are having a good winter and are able to get out and enjoy some riding!

Happy Super Bowl!!!

Kay
