antitheft device 2002 summit

does anyone know how to bypass the antitheft device on a 2002 summit 800 highmark? the chip in the cap has fallen out as it was just glued in.
sled was purchaced without paper work.

what are my options... thx...gary

I really don't think so without going to like a 440 ignition. Each cap is programmed for that specific computer, your Doo dealer should be able to plug into your sled and program a new DESS key though.

Can't you just take the MPEM into the dealer? I mean if it is inconvenient for taking the sled in.

If there was no paperwork on the sled, you need to pursue that. I am not saying anything here, but if the sled does not have a clean record, and you take it in to get it reprogrammed... dunno what might happen. I would be tempted to call the VIN number in to law enforcement and check to make sure it is clean, if it is you can apply for a lost title or abandoned vehicle title, the law enf. should be able to tell you the last registered owner, go get a notarized bill of sale from them or whatever your state requires and get your paperwork.

WAIT - this thread is old old old, who dredged it up?

I guess I did! Did anyone else notice the Forums are Alphabet ordered in the general? Brought it to the top. wierd.

Anyways when I had mine done, they didn't check paperwork(now that you say it, don't know why they WOULDN'T!) but they plugged right onto the DESS post.

Now that I look at it, my computer freaked out and changed all the settings! Huh, well hope you got your answer! haha!
