Antifreeze disappearing? where is it going?

its a 08 m1k with about 2500 miles on it. Has ran great since new and has never missed a beat. Late last season i was on the last ride of the year and mid ride noticed the sled was alittle low on coolant. No biggy, figured i had overheated it once and blew a bit out. This season i realized the thing was drinking antifreeze at a pretty fast rate. I would say about a quart or so every 50 miles. I've had it to the dealer twice, and both times they let it come back home with me with a clean bill of health... The last time it was at the dealer was last week, and after this weekends ride it is LOW on coolant again. What could the dealer be missing? They told me the pressure tested the system and everything was good, and that it must be blowing coolant out due to me riding a low snow conditions for a few miles here and there... They are wrong, and lossing my respect and soon my patronage. I'm done with the dealer so i've come to a group of people that WILL know... So my question is, where can i start looking to find this leak? I see no signs of any coolant on the snow, and i can't really smell it in my exhaust. Help please!!!!

A quart every 50 miles is alot. It should not be that hard to find. Have you looked in the cylinders for signs of coolant injestion? Also could be the pressure cap, water pump and hose connections to the heat exchanges or the heat exchanger.

I was loosing coolant too. Did a PSI test and found it leaking between the head and the cylinder on the mag side. When I went to pull the head to see if coolant got into the cylinder I found the headbolts were very loose.

I was lucky it did not get into the piston. I will make sure I retorque the head bolts after I replace the head o-rings and run it for awhile.

Also check the fitment of the coolanr cap.

I had a laek last week on my m8 it was leaking where the front exchanger in the tunnel runs a line to the rear exchanger(left side tunnel right above DD)a hose clamp broke.I never saw any fluid leak on the snow or anywhere until i put my sled on a stand and ran it up to temp and then ran the track for a couple of minutes.hope this helps

I have this same leak on my M7. Had it on a stand and got it real hot before the green started to show itself on that hose coming off of the bulkhead exchanger.

Pull your skid plate off and check your water pump bolts.3 of mine were loose and would drip out of them.

As far as the front heat exchanger leaking, that would have showed up on the test right? I am going to be taking the skid plate off this weekend and seeing what i can find... As far as checking this pistons, what will i be looking for? will they be clean washed? thanks for the tips guys!
