anti-stab kit

Seeking opinions on this. From what I have read I would not own an M sled without an antistab kit. Is the risk just as high for the old 1M/King Cat? I have 04 Mountain Cats and do not havre kit on them. Should I?

The issue on the M's is the 3.0 pitch (3 inches to each driver tooth or to each track window). Because the windows are larger/longer and the tracks are usually run more loosely the track can flop in such a way that a rail tip actually spears a track window. I have never heard of this happening with the older 2.52 pitch tracks. Some years of Kings had 3.0 pitch tracks but I do not believe any of the 1Ms had 3.0 pitch tracks. If you have an 04 1M Mountain Cat you should be fine. If you have 04 King you may want to measure your track. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

All of the kings had 3.0" pitch tracks. You are correct that none of the "regular" 1M sleds did. However, many owners have put 3.0" pitch tracks on their 1Ms, so if you buy one used, check that. I would think there isn't much of a drawback (other than money) to running an anti-stab kit, just for peace of mind.

That being said, we've run quite a few 1Ms with 3" pitch tracks, some with anti-stab kits and some without and we've never had a problem.

Just looked at my 2003 and 2010 to compare both with stock tracks. Yes the windows are bigger on the newer 3" tracks.

However when lookin at the rails the front bends are different. The new ones bend up and then are straight to the tips. The old ones bend all the way to the tips. This pulls the tips a little further back from the track widows. First thing I did was put antistab on the new one. Even though it rarely happens u don't want to be the one it happens too!

Thanks everyone. Anyone else weigh in I appreciate. I'll probably finish the season without but will probably go ahead and have done for next season. When I look the design over on mine I have a hard time visualizing would happen to these 1M's, but seems like pretty cheap extra piece of mind unless somehow would do more harm than good on these particulat sleds!

Cheap insurance in my opinion. I have seen a couple of 04 king cats stab tracks but not the 1m that I can remember.

Question

I bought a very low mile 2005 Kingcat in excellent shape, I also bought a new Power Claw track to install along with a Anti Stab kit and Holtz Drop Brackets, my question is should I still maybe cut a 1/2 inch of the end of the rail or will I be safe with the Anti stab kit thanks for any imput, I am about ready to switch everything MADDOGWFO

It's a good idea to do the anti-stab if you are running extroverts too. If I understand right, when the suspension compresses, it moves the rails forward, which can then contact the extros, and force the rails into the windows, thus stabbing the track. OBB, had an 03 with extro's stab on him....Not a fun experience...but funny as hell! (hindsight) lmao
