Diagnose away!

Hit det one time a couple tanks of gas ago and immediately after re starting from that det cycle I can't pull over 7900 and it cuts in and out to exactly 6600 rpm. The sled is clutched to run about 8300 at altitude (Colorado)

Sled has a drop in kit with about 500 miles on it with recently found (post det) scuffs intake side of the pistson. Ran amazing up until this det, compression is good

New plugs, new reeds, new plugs and caps, new fuel filter 500 miles ago this fall, just re adjusted the tps and it seems fine... 1800 rpm and reverse works.

Just for giggles I tossed 3 gallons of av gas in to see if it would clear out the bog and no dice

Switched the ethanol chip back and fourth with no results

pulled pto power valve, it looked fine as well as exhaust side of piston and rings

Looked in both spark plug holes and pistons look fine, pulled plugs post det looked fine also but I changed them anyways

I am friggin stumped.. A couple people suggest a plugged fuel filter.. I can check it but I just have a hard time swallowing that with it happening right after a det bomb but who knows

Oh and no rubbing wires either

Sounds to me like the infamous goat sound which usually is a lean scenario. Does your drop in have a fuel controller? What year sled do you have? Is the det light coming on during this bog?

Couple questions

Milo.... Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge that you could hook up and ride the sled. Can you make the sled do this on a stand?

I know you said you set up your tps but have you checked for a "dead" spot?

Have you done plug readings when it is doing this?

12 no controller

Only time its thrown a code was det that I've seen

Didn't check for a dead spot and im going to try and recreate it tonight on a stand

I never did pull a plug during the bog but hopefully will tonight!

My 13' Assault does the EXACT same thing, plz keep us posted, it drives me crazy when you want to climb and it falls on its face 1/2 way up.

Maybe why you lost 2 motors? Maybe the dealer and polaris should look into that instead of blaming the oil.

is it RK tek drop in kit?

Just did the 858 Big bore and first time out hit det 7 code sit off and restarted and now periodically around the 7700 to 7900 rpm mark sled cuts out down to 6900.

Couldn't figure it out was told to keep running it and now it died on me 2 kms down the trail. bore scope shows scuffing on cylinder wall so tearing it down tomorrow to see whats up.

The easiest things that help with my bog was tighten gap on plugs to .18 and replace the spark plug wires with something good. Also tighten up the throttle cable. Fixed mine quickly.

All done well prior to this ) :

Have dealer check and reset tps. When they Are done do it again just to verify they get the same numbers. Mine bogged a bit the 1st year . After several tps resets it's been great.
