Mine broke at the crank
Do I see a crack in the Cross member.. Right below the engine...

Dont think so? Maybe a drip or mold mark, I am sure I would have noticed a crack as I did spend some time staring at it back in the middle of nowhere!
That's a casting mark Matt.
AK's broke the crank. That's not common.
What is a much more common issue is the clutch splitting in half like seen in the above pics. And if my memory is correct, IndyDan said this would happen when Polaris went to the 32mm taper on the crank's back in 2007ish.
Agree, not a crack, they all have that mold line right there. Verified on the half dozen I have here in the garage. Typically a crack would not be that straight either. Definitely worthy of mentioning for verification purposes, though. Sorry about your crank. That had to suck!
Both my -08 D7 and my -09 Assault primary clutches split in half. On the D7 it happened at around 1800km and on the Assault at around 4500km. Have been on BRP sleds for four years since the Assault but just bought a -15 RMK, I'm hoping it wont happen again!
The clutch on my 12 broke at 600 miles. It was covered under warranty.
