Has anyone contacted polaris about this .it happened at exactly 1200 miles .if so did they do anything at all .or just tell you to pound sand?

mine broke at 3500 miles last year but still have warranty
My 2012 just broke also, 1700 miles. No warranty so new on from Indydan on the way.

I also broke myn last year at about 1600 miles, 2012 Pro, was in the middle of a trip at cooke city so I just bought a new one and I didnt have warranty anyway.

Sounds like a recall is in order from polaris for there junk
happened to my buddies 2012 when he went to pre-season his sled. 1200 miles as well. i didnt realize it was a common issue.
Mine snapped in half on a 11 800 with about 1000 miles or less. It was warrantied.

Dont know if mine has been off, bought it used last season with 800 miles on it.
I have changed weights but I do that with the clutch on the sled, just pull the cover.
Here is Pics of mine. It split about 3/4 of the way around, I cut the rest off.

Broken primary
I changed one on an 11 last year with 600 miles it had a massive engine failure which may have been the cause, the pto bearing went junk took out the crank seal fried pto piston broke the skirt and blew a hole out the bottom of the case. I found the cluch had snapped when I went to pull it off, snapped off at the end of the spider where the threads end, welded it back together pulled right off .

This was my12 last season sled had around 1800 miles..
i have pics on here somewhere from a 2012 that i had to bring into the dealer. It had 1500 miles and had never been off the machine. when i was asking around about the problem the 2012 models came up often. most felt there was a bad batch and i'd agree with that.
