A lot of threads on this forum about people getting screwed over by someone else on here, which is a bummer, so I though I'd try and bring something good to light as well.
I live in MN, but I was in Park City, UT, last week for a wedding. I wanted to try and get out for a ride, and I had a couple of family members who wanted to tag along. I posted in the Utah riding area section inquiring about sled rentals, and got a handful of recommendations for mtnpull (Adam). I had never met the guy, but we PM'd back and forth a couple of times, and eventually set up a ride for last Wednesday. I tell him that the folks who will be with me are newbs, and so I need sleds that are turn-key, and recommendations for a fairly tame riding area. I also tell him that I have no way to pull the sleds, so he agrees to deliver the sleds to the trail head and pick them up when we're done. Then, when I tell him that I'm driving a rental car (Camry) he says that the road up the canyon can be sketchy depending on the weather, so we should drive to his house in Heber, and he'll give the 3 of us a ride up and back in his truck. He charged us no extra for any of this.
Long story short, the sleds ran great, the area he sent us was perfect for the skill levels involved, and a great time was had by all. His rates were good (I think we paid $130 per sled, everything included) and he turned out to be a heck of a nice guy. I would definitely not hesitate to rent from him again, and I would feel very comfortable recommending him to anyone else looking for sled rental in the area. Thank you, Adam.
"Funny" side note, we got back to the trail head lot about half-hour before Adam was supposed to pick us up, so we went about a mile back up the trail to have a sandwich and just play around in the trees a little bit. On the way back out, my brother-in-law forgot to release his parking brake (still not sure why he ever put it on). Rotor got so hot it basically disintegrated, taking the caliper and the side vent with it, then started his snow pants on fire. This is a guy who flies jets for the Navy. Apparently, on the boat, the ground crew checks the brakes for you before you take off...
