This is out of my brothers 05 800 maybe a 100 mi on it. (there stock ski doo) What do you think happened? It's the mag side, It happened two seasons ago and he moved to Texas so i'm gonna fix it for a back up since I have two spare stock pistons. (He might have crossed a creek before it happened):face-icon-small-con

maybe a cold seize, my 670 blew up like that like twice last year i finally got rid of it sick of fixing it my freind said maybe the crank might be outa phase. could be your thermostat also replace that just to make sure or at least test it by putting thermostat in hot water to see if it opens

clean your carbs and check your carb boots. If your sled has been sitting you can have some crap in the carbs. If your boots have cracks it can cause a lean condition and cause burn down. A crank seal is a possibility but the seal is incased by a plate so its not a real likely problem, but still a possibility.

Little more info, it had a new motor put in by dealership- they kept his V-forceIII reeds and put stock back in and swaped his SLP pipe for a stock one because it had a small dint in it.They did all this without his permission:face-icon-small-fro Been thinking about it and his first ride of 2 for it went he did say the temp light was coming on in 18" of powder. Thanks for making me think. I'll check the T-stat and jutting,

I'd definitely pull the carbs and go thru them, the other probable culprit is the rubber boots between the carbs and the block.

Might have or DID? It's on the intake side and certainly looks like water seize to me. If not, check the mag side carb boot for tears or plugged main jet on that side.

Have FUN!

Carb boots were new when it happened,carbs/jets are clean. Was changing gear oil and when I crawled under sled to put the plug back in I noticed the front cooler was wacked and cracked. When he was crossing the creek he must have hit a rock and lost all the coolant got hot and locked it up.CASE CLOSED:face-icon-small-hap

You didn't notice lack of coolant when you pulled the pistons?:face-icon-small-dis
Thats what happens when you take over a project!! He pulled the head back in 08, when I drain my motor to work on it,it's empty, I like to be able to roll it on it's side if need be:face-icon-small-hap So I guess NO I didn't notice.
