I just found out today that Big Boys Toys will not be carrying Arctic Cat next year. It's sad to see Arctic Cat not support their dealerships.

I don't think it's cat not supporting there dealers, I think they support them very well. It's just business. You sell what sells and you make money on. Right now if you sell Polaris there is no other reason to sell any other brand. They probably sell 20 Polaris vehicles to every one cat.

That is only the case out west. In the Midwest, not every Sally has a Pro with a neon wrap:) But my understanding is the arctic cat four wheelers are what really killed the dealers around here. That combined with the 2012 belt problems, the Pro, the economy, etc.

i've heard the same thing the sleds were selling ok.but cat wanted or demanded they order more 4wheelers than they could sell. or they would hard ball them, taking away factory sales incentives and basicly pulling their dealerships. its to bad i used to love my cats.

Newgate dropped cat a few years ago and it was because like someone else said, cat was really pushy that they bought lots of new sleds when they still had lots of holdovers from the years (yes years not year) before. If cat keeps up with their selling tactics, there won't be any cat dealers left.

madmax can chime in if he wants, but the pressure from the OEM is nothing knew for any make... they are always pushing the dealers to take more and sell more, its called "selling". Polaris used to be infamous for it, don't know how they are now days. Polaris used to make mountain dealers take a certain number of flatland sleds even.

I'm also willing to bet this isn't just a one sided deal with Big Boys. I've seen several dealers "lose" their dealerships over the years and its usually a 2 way street, the dealer is not willing to do what the OEM wants and the OEM wants the dealer to do too much. At some point, if you are the owner, you make the decision on whether to bail or not.

So who up in the Ogden area is going to be selling Cats now?

Same thing happened to my cat dealer in Logan a few years ago. They were selling sleds but the four wheelers were what was hurting their business.

I agree it is just ”selling” as you call it, but since Newgate and Big Boys are also polaris dealers and will continue being polaris dealers and not cat dealers, that should tell you something about how cat ”sells” compared to others. The Ogden area won't have a cat dealer anymore, Big Boys was the last.

My opinion on Cat sleds....I owned almost every year M sled they made. They missed the mark when they came out with their new chassis, which I owned as well. They tried to shove a heavy flat lander sled with a long track down our throats....again! I realize some people love the sled. But, it is just not able to provide most customers the same satisfaction as a Pro or an XM. I know this is just the snow side of their business. But, as I look at the dirt side, they aren't as competitive there either....at least not in the Western market.

Agreed, but not sure what this has to do with Big Boys Toys. Are you implying that they can't sell AC sleds? This has me leaning toward Pol even more now I don't even have an AC dealer close by. AC is missing out on a huge market here north of SLC IMO.

Does Vescos sell Cat? I haven't been there in a long time, and can't remember. It's only another 10 minutes North of Bigboys.

Vesco's has downsized to the size of a small office space on the north end of Brigham....No Cat, next closest would be Renegade in Logan.

I am saying...I think most dealers would have a hard time competing and staying afloat just selling Cat right now. They were on top for a while, and fell big! Now they're even making stuff for Yamaha! Too me, that smells like a troubled company!

They very much may be a troubled company. IDK. I do know that now I'm in trouble not having a local AC dealer. Sucks to have to drive almost an hour to see your dealer. I hope they have a trick or two up there sleeve!

It looks that way Missy. Maybe Pol will start using suzuk engines. Now were talking!

WooHoo! We could get you some pink bumpers to match mine too ;)

I just put mine away for the season after TCS got her all tuned up and aligned for next season. 1580 miles for me this year! :cheer2:
