I went up riding today and halfway through the day I went to start it after a break and it wouldn't start. Pulled the plugs and no spark. jiggled wires, looked for shorted wires. unhooked the main ecu plug and checked for moisture and didn't seem to find anything. Pulled it over again and had spark. Fired it up and rode for another half hour, shut it off and same thing. Once it started again, rode for a while and killed it and next time it started right up and immediately died. pulled it over again and it started. continued like this for the rest of the trip, sometimes starting right up but half the time killing at first and then starting up and running. Any ideas?

i'd disconnect the t.o.r.s and the kill switch, if your gonna ride it like this add a tether, and see if it fixes your problem. they are both located in the throttle block. just take it apart and unplug them.

It seems a friends 08 m1000 did this kind of thing, but I'm not sure about weather we had spark or didn't but it seemed like it had spark then it didn't. finally figure out, the injector wire was rubbed through and grounding out on the heat sheild. causing a loss in fuel and spark??? look for shorts in the plug wires. maybe one of your kill switches is shorting out or not working.

I'll have to do a more detailed search in the garage. I'll try unhooking my kill switches also. I found it odd that it would start and then die and then start again and keep running

tors is the throttle override system...

its in the throttle block on the handle bars, when you just start to push the throttle you can hear it click. it is made so that if the throttle stuck when you let off and the rpms are above 4000 it kills the motor.
