another dd question

All the talk about the 07 m1000 dd going bad I thought I would pull the cover off and check the bearings. The out side bearings are good, but the whole gear set has play. Is this normal? The dd is still mounted on the sled. Thanks

There is a little play in there ..Do the gears look worn..Sould be fine if bearings are ok.good luck

if the bearings are tight and look good, and no gear teeth are chipped thats good. but the play in it seems kinda wierd. my bearing went out and took EVERYTHING with it. needless to say i am also on a 07m1000. ordered a new black diamond extreme light drive from dale at cutlers and it was all assembled so i didnt get to notice if there was play in a new one or not....also just a little food for thaught. dale reccomends changing the gear oil in those every 300 miles or so.

Gears look good. Guess I will put the cover back on and ride it. If it breaks ill be ordering a dd light from BD.

One other thing, How many bearings are in there? I can only see the outer 2. I am assuming there is one more on the inside, but cant see it with out taking the gears out.
